    Good Thursday morning, everyone.

We haven't been blown away (yet) but we seem to have had a fair bit of rain - parts of the garden are under water and the milkman hasn't been, probably because he couldn't get through floods. I think we need an amphibious car to go out today!

There's no wind, so either the Isle of Wight has protected us, or the storm has tracked north of us or ... it's on its way!

Oma, I hope your MIL is a happy cheery soul today to make up for the horrible weather.

Lizzie, a day at home sewing sounds a good idea. We both like mackerel salad with beetroot. It's really tasty.

Nanto, lovely graphic, and it is definitely autumn now! I can't understand people panic buying, except maybe in the Channel Islands where deliveries won't be able to make the crossing to the islands.

Take care everyone - it seems like a good day to stay home if you can.

      Good morning ladies.

Please stay safe those of you in the path of the storm.
      Raining a lot here.

Good to hear from you Plant.

We had a very good night at the theatre. I was so pleased that I coped so well with two hour-long drives ( as passenger) walks between car park and theatre and sitting through a long show. I was hardly in any pain. In fact I commented to OH that I would have been very uncomfortable sitting in the theatre with my pre op knee.
I need to rest today though, my knee is complaining! There was a lot of walking and the slope to the multi storey car park was hard, especially coming downhill.
Easy day today. Golf course closed so no golf for OH. We have a Tesco delivery at 3. No other plans

We had heavy rain earlier, but it seems to be brightening up a bit now. No wind.

Gem, glad you enjoyed the theatre.

Just wrapped up our Tommie's Christmas presents.
Got a few more cards to write, but its coffee time now.

Menu today is,tomato sausage with onion gravy, mash and green beans.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oh that's a good idea Nan2. I will go and check the Christmas card box and see how many cards we need for this year.

Well MIL although moaning wasn’t too bad , not cheerful but bearable ,
We had taken her 4 meals and 3 desserts and SIL had taken her a meal and dessert on Monday so she won’t starve,
Checked she had enough bread milk etc she was well stocked up .
No need to go out at all .

              Gem
Good to hear you managed the theatre rest today and hopefully tomorrow it’s a better day x

              Lizzie
I never used to like beetroot unless pickled it was too earth tasting for me , but recently I’ve not minded it in salad etc

              Daisy
Hope you have milk in till the milkman can get to you.

Its never stopped lashing down with rain ,
              Dark and windy too .
On way to MILs lots of flooding, cars crawling and swerving to avoid the huge puddles.

There is a little park we pass on the way it’s popular with dog walkers that was under water , a few brave people letting the dogs bounce around in the water but not actually going far from the gates ,

The garden is a mess with leaves but we won’t be doing anything with it for at least a few days as more rain forecast.

Hope everyone is safe and warm xxx

Glamm, I'm so pleased to see you back on here. We've been so pleased that y our lovely DD has kept us up to date with your progress, but my goodness, you must have felt very poorly. Please take care and get properly better before you get back to. your normal busy life. I do hope your DD soon starts to feel better. She must be in a lot of pain with her foot/ankle. I bet Ollie missed you when you were in hospital as well. Did he give you a good welcome? Take care, lots of love.xxx

Oma, I'm glad MIL didn't give you and b a hard time today. It sounds as though your roads were pretty bad as well for travelling. I'm not surprised there weren't many dog walkers out in the little park today!

Nanto, you are so organised for Christmas. And I bet little Tommie will be getting excited too as he probably understands more about it this year.

Plant, our news said there were high winds and some flooding along the French coast, so I hope it didn't affect you too much. Lizzie, I'm afraid the news didn't even mention what might be happening in the Netherlands. I hope you were all ok and the storm passed you by.

We've had more flooding than I'ver ever seen in our village. The only passable road out is a very narrow tarmac track. In places there isn't room for two cars to pass. But at least it was drivable for those who needed to go somewhere. DS2 and DIL2 didn't send the girls to school today. They were worried about GD1 going on a double decker bus all the way into Bournemouth and even more worried about her getting back home in the dark. It seems a lot of parents felt the same.

Daisy , I don't blame your DS and DIL not sending their girls to school today. A sensible decision. We should always do what we feel is right to keep children safe.

Good morning, Daisy we had the storm, a lot of tree damage etc, one of my plants on the balcony even blew over! I looked out and it was flat, I did manage to recover it and get it moved. There has been so much rain, still raining actually, the poor school children etc on their bikes!!!

Glamma, I do hope that you are soon feeling better, which was first, the pneumonia or the covid! My DB1 had to go into the hospital for a short operation and returned home with covid.

I phoned my BIL yesterday, he got moved a few weeks ago, he didn't like it at first but has now settled in and is actually sounding more cheerful.

DS1 is in the UK, returns home today, I hope.

                            Good morning.

Lizzie, the storm passed by us. We had quite a bit of rain, but no wind.

No cooking today, we are going to the pub with DS1.

I've got quite a few bramley apples in the fridge that need using, so I'm going to make a pie and a couple of crumbles for the freezer.

Don't know what the weather forecast is, but it would be nice to see some sun.

I think it was a wise decision your DS & DIL made not sending the girls to school , I think well I know I would have done the same.

Did you see the woman who was in bed with her baby by her when the windows blew in , she just managed to scoop the baby up and run out of the room ,
They had to shelter in the hall as all the windows broke in the living room kitchen bedroom etc .
                              Must have been so scary.

                              Lizzie
Pleased you could save your plant , is there any other damage ?

We have the dog for a couple hours this morning then I have Dentist to fix my broken tooth at 2
apart from ironing nothing exciting happening .

                                Good morning everyone.

I hope the stormy conditions have died down. Sunny here with bit of breeze. I hope the sun has reached you Nan2!

It sounds as though your BIL is happier Lizzie.

I didn't see that story Oma, how scary!! Good luck getting the tooth fixed.

Later I am meeting DDs 2 and 3 and children at a nearby playbarn. Not sure if OH will come, but I suspect not!
She and I are eating at the golf club tonight followed by a quiz night there.
