    Good morning,

Daisy, we have had geothermal energy a few years now for our heating, after the renovation it will provide our warm water as well .

GS2 and partner are going to Kos tomorrow for 10 days, the weather looks good so they will enjoy the break.

Gem, I expect you will have to be able to walk before you can go home.

GD1 has just phoned, on her way to college, she is loving her work at the new Lidl in their village, she worked 38 hours last week for the opening etc. She said it is a very friendly team.

Gem, glad you managed to get some sleep. I don't think you will be short of visitors.

Still windy here, but not as bad as yesterday. Raining as well now.

Not sure what we will be doing today, but it won't be gardening.

Dinner is chargrilled chicken, baby potatoes and veg.
The potatoes are partially cooked and in the freezer.I finish them off in the air fryer.

Daisy, they sent me an email telling me my letter would be published.
Its nothing exciting but i'll post it, in case anyone wants to read it.

        Morning Ladies.

        Nanto
I haven't heard or seen Bilberys for years. To be honest i had forgotten about them till i read your article.
You never see Gooseberry in the shops now either.

        Lizzie
Hope your family have a lovely holiday the winter is fast approaching so may be the last they see of the sun.
Pleased your GD enjoying her job πŸ˜€

Fingers crossed they will get you up today and are pleased with your progress but if they say another day in hospital well they know best.
GS will be anxious to know your ok and won't believe it till he sees himself . Grandma is important to him 😁

          Morning each
Bilberry pie! That evokes memories. When we were young, my brother and I were taken to a relative in Stockport for the summer holidays. Aunt A made the most wonderful bilberry pie with custard. I haven’t seen one since! Greengages, where have they gone?
Nothing much doing here today, I could clean the study, it’s almost unhygienic! Maybe I should.
          Have a good day ladies.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. It's dry but very windy here.

Lizzie, interesting that you have had geothermal energy for so long. I don't know much about it, but it's presumably very eco-friendly? Well done to GD1 for settling down so well in her Lidl job, and I hope she is enjoying college, too. Ten days in Kos sounds wonderful - puts off the spectre of winter for a while.

Oma, does the wind mean you now start your Autumn battle with the falling leaves? What are you buying from the farm shop?

Nanto, how funny you should mention bilberries in your letter. When I was a little girl I used to love going to pick bilberries with my Dad. During the war he'd worked in rural Derbyshire, putting electricity into farms and isolated villages. In the process he made friends with several farmers and often took me to visit them after the war. He used to help pick plums, damsons, greengages, apples, pears etc - I can't remember what else - and I would happily pick bilberries. We have little bushes/shrubs here in the Forest that look exactly like bilberries, but the never seem to have any berries on them. It's such a pity they seem to have disappeared - they were a fantastic autumn treat, bilberry pie with custard.

Grauntie it's not often I encourage anyone to do housework, but it sounds (almost!) as though you want to clean the study so indulge yourself. I gave our bedroom a spring clean yesterday and that smug "I, too, am a domestic Goddess" feeling was heady!! :

Gem, GS1 will be so pleased to see you. He's such a sensitive little soul and he must be worried about you. Good to hear your BP is ok. OH will be pleased to see you - it must be strange for her on her own at home. Dare I say "quiet"? xxx

My usual Wednesday - dog training this afternoon, and whatever odds and ends of jobs I get done this morning. I'll see if the wind drops a bit before I take Eva out.

Daisy, the geothermal plant is a stone throw from here, they heat the pool, gym, school and almost 500 houses up to now. I have looked on their site and will see if they have an English version. I am going to get ready for the circuit training now.

It has not stopped raining here all morning Oliver has been running in and out of the kitchen with his wet paws he is full of himself today I chased him out after he wandered all across my glass coffee table leaving paw marks everywhere so the glass cleaner is out again.

Later yesterday afternoon I felt I needed to go out and get some fresh air so drove down to the Prom and did a wee bit of people watching whilst I sat in Costa with a hot chocolate I saw a few people I knew so it was very a pleasant hour or two, when coming home I popped into Morrisons and they where reducing lots of produce I am never about when this happens usually but yesterday I got a punnet of Raspberries/large garlic mushrooms & a bag of cheese rolls all for 20p a go so I had museli & raspberries for breakfast this morning and having the mushrooms tonight with a porksteak DS will be delighted .

Have any of you ever applied the discount coupon that shows up when you order off line ? I have never used it before but on Monday it popped up when I ordered a Aran Style Cardigan from Damart it gave me 25% discount and free postage I was delighted it arrived this morning so pleased with it I am well stocked up with winter coats but thought this would be just right for Autumn when driving its got that thermal stuff in it so will be warm but unobstructive.

The rain has stopped just now so I'm off to find where Oliver is hiding he is in the garden somewhere goodness knows where he is ??

Sending best wishes to the lovely Gems rest rest & more rest is the order of the day for you young lady xxxxx

Smoked Back bacon , Pork chops for tonight they are huge ,
Some Lamb mince and a Small joint of Beef , just enough to make a meal for B and his Mam and the left overs will either make sandwiches or go to the dog .
We then went into their Bakery next door and I bought a Sourdough loaf and some cakes for my Sister and BIL .
I looked at their fruiters too I wanted Figs but they didn’t have any but I came out with lovely Mushrooms and some fresh sweetcorn .
I forgot to take my Milk bottle to be refilled or I would have bought some strawberry milk , maybe next time .

Had a lovely visit with my DS laughed so much I need a headache tablet when I left ,
My two nieces still live with them they are 48+50 the family’s old maids but two of the funniest people you could meet ,
They are loud and laugh constantly ,
My head hurts and my cheeks ache when we come out but they brighten any dull day .

Its been lashing down and the garden is full of leaves so yes Daisy the battle commences
Driving home it rained so hard the windscreen wipers were battling to keep up.

Busy day for me WI this morning and board games this afternoon. I have finished and wrapped the quince paste, it took a lot of washing tops to get rid of the sticky remnants. Lovely surprise last evening GS1 sent me a picture of a scan, it was to let me know that there is another baby cooking. They already have two children a boy of 7 and a daughter of 4 years old. Mother is a teacher so she will be taking some maternity leave later. I knew she wanted to have another child but GS was quite happy with two. So I have another GGC on the way.

We have had a very wet and windy day too Oma I read that you had a
lovely visit from DSon and the description of the visit didn’t seem to fit. Now I realise it was meant to be sister. It is nice to have a good laugh

Glamm, I often feel that I need to get out, because we live behind everyone we don’t have any passing people so I go and sit on the common and feed the ducks. Would love to have a view of the sea, our nearest beach is 2 hours away. I hope you found Oliver, he certainly is a very handsome cat.

Grauntie, did you get the study cleaning done or did you find something more enjoyable to do.

I don’t understand this discount code business.

We used to buy some gorgeous bilberry pies in Coventry when we lived there.

OH, then 2 of our friends then after tea DD and GS1 visiting. It was lovely to see them all, but that plus all the physio and walking has exhausted me.

I'm getting back into my nightie now to watch TV for a bit.

I did it! I cleaned the study. It took me nearly all day, but it is done. It gleams. I got ruthless and threw stuff out I won’t miss BUT I did find some pictures I bought in India some years ago. I have been searching for them for a long time and had resigned myself to never finding them. They were between the pages of a craft book. Oh happy day!!
Tomorrow I will find frames and get them on the wall.
                            Sleep well all, especially Gem.

Plant, what lovely news, having another GGC on the way. You've certainly had a busy day today. It's nice to see people passing by. Although we live in a cul de sac we get lots of people walking and cycling because there is a little path opposite us which is a short-cut into the village. So it's the best of both worlds - people (and lots of dogs) but no cars. How much quince paste did you make in the end?

Glamm, it's a nice break to go and sit on the prom. Oliver will have to learn to wipe his paws in wet weather! Little monkey. Morrisons have some good bargains late in the day - I always pop in if I'm in town at that time. I've used discount codes sometimes, but other times they don't seem worth the hassle.

Lizzie, the geothermal plant sounds as though it's doing a good job for a lot of buildings and people. I think there are some plants in the UK, but you don't hear much about them.

Gem, you've had a busy day with physio and visitors, just a few hours after your operation. No wonder you're tired. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit easier. xxx

Oma, you stocked up well at the farm shop! When can I come to tea - I bet everything will be delicious. It sounds great fun at your Sister's house. No wonder you needed a headache tablet. .

It's rained hard nearly all day today - Eva and I got soaked just going from the car into the dog training place and there was a lot of flooding on the roads. I was tired when we got home and ended up doing chips, eggs and beans for dinner. I didn't feel like cooking at all.

Grauntie - our posts crossed. What a star you are today! And you got your reward finding those pictures. Much as I hate housework, I do like that nice clean, shiny result. It's amazing how much junk we seem to have, isn't it. Will you hang the pictures in the study?
