Morning, your wax coat sounds really good! It is dry and sunny here so we need our sunglasses! I have had those drops in my eyes.

I received a mail from the hospital, the operation is on 23rd of this month, then, I accidentally delated it!!!! I have just mailed them but they will send a letter by post anyway with instructions etc.

I have done some shopping etc and hope to go for a bike ride, only, my head isn't in the right place at the moment. Whilst I was away I was so relaxed, I arrive home and off I go again. I will improve, I hope.

        Good Wednesday morning everyone.

Nanto, you're right, the year seems to be flying by. Enjoy lunch with your GS and his partner.

Plant, thank goodness your doors are ok now. Enjoy your afternoon and your nightcap with your DD and SIL. How lovely of them to consider fostering a Guide Dog puppy. I think GrannyJules has done that, too. It's a lovely thing to do, but I would be heartbroken at having to return him for the next stage of training.

Oma, good news that the check-ups went well, although you must have felt silly wearing sunglasses in the rain! It sounds like perfect timing to get a new raincoat, and yours sounds beautiful. Any chance of a photo of you modelling it when your eyes are ok again?

Lizzie, it's good news that you haven't got to wait too long for your operation. Do you find going for a bike ride calms your racing thoughts? I know what you mean when everything is going round and round in your mind. Do whatever it takes to help you relax. xx

I seem to have had a busy morning. I took Eva out as soon as I'd had a shower, even though my hair was soaking wet! It's training this afternoon so I didn't want to leave it till later for a walk. I had 48 emails in my inbox this morning. How did that happen! One needed an immediate reply but I had to speak to someone else first, so I spent a while sorting that out. Then OH and I spent a while sorting out the best route to go and see some friends in Somerset on Sunday. It's the Dorset County Show so trying to guess how to avoid the worst of the traffic isn't easy! I'm just catching up on here.

Daisy, yes, getting outside does clear my mind, when I get round to it! Just one of those days!

I have just got a message from DS1, on a boat on the Mersey, I think on his way to Birkenhead, he does get around, last week it was Gothenburg!

Plant, it wasn't your GD who served me yesterday, though I did look for her around the store! It's such a lovely experience going shopping there or in JL. Staff actually seem to want to help you and are all friendly.

We often thought about fostering a guide dog puppy, but decided that it would be too much of a wrench to give them back. Good luck to Plant's DD & SiL and well done for offering.

Hope your head has cleared Lizzie and your not going round in circles any more. I'm having problems getting to sleep at the moment. Sound once I've fallen asleep, just the getting there. I shall have to see if I can find the pillow spray that I used to use, must be somewhere around!

Going to take some paperwork to the GP if the rain doesn't fall. I walk there and I may treat myself to a coffee in the nearby cafe before I face the uphill walk home!

Oma, I've got my Drizabone raincoat from Australia which the drovers wear. It really is effective at keeping out the rain though it's not the most glamorous of coats. I've got a red Akubra hat I wear with it and the rain falls off that too!

              Enjoy your afternoon ladies xx

WG, I shall look out for you when it is raining, sounds like I can’t miss you. Is your surgery down the hill, that is my DSs,Dil’s and their family doctor and did you go to the cafe/little shop across the road in the village hall car park for your coffee? I had forgotten you had met my GD, now she has gone full time she is mainly in cafe, either back or front of house, she also cooks in the staff cafe. Really she would prefer to do the bread baking. I mainly use the Beaconsfield branch.

Lizzie, you need to capture that holiday feeling at home!

We had a very nice day, made happier by DD3 going home to her baby

I will start a holiday thread!

Lizzie, hope your head is feeling a bit clearer.

Everyone enjoyed their beef dinner, followed by rhubarb pie and custard.
DS and partner stayed quite a while.
It was the last chance to see them together before they go to Barcelona on 16/9.

WG, I can soon get to sleep, it is the early morning waking up that gets me!

I did have a walk after tea, it was still warm and muggy though.

Oma - thanks for the photo. The raincoat is lovely and will keep you dry and cosy - it's a good length and I like the sleeve cuffs - keep the rain and the howling wind out.

Nanto - it sounds as though you all had a lovely time, and a delicious dinner.

Ladies, it's the end of August, but hopefully not the end of Summer just yet. But it's time to close the doors on The Daily Drop-in at the end of a busy, eventful year.

Thank you for all your contributions. You are the reason GRU is here and we're delighted that you take so much trouble to join in and contribute.

Admin have been burning the midnight oil thinking about what to call The Daily Drop-in's replacement. As it's the place we tell each other what we are doing from day-to-day we have chosen the obvious. So from tomorrow you will have a brand new section called

                                What are you doing today?

We are trying very hard to make it easier for us all to follow each other's events, news and lives in general, so please don't be afraid to open a new thread or duplicate a post in another section. If you're not sure where to start a new thread THIS AND THAT is a good place to go.
