Good morning all. The stupid gulls woke me this morning. They are sitting on the roof of the flat over the road from us making a hell of a noise. My neighbour regularly puts scraps of food out for them. It’s usually cooked ham, sausages , cake etc. She claims she is doing her best to help the birds.
I have tried to reason with her that all she is doing is driving away our small garden birds , sparrows, starlings and blackbirds hardly visit my garden now because of them. Also she could be encouraging rats to take up residence near her !
Her next door neighbour is as bad, only yesterday she was seen chuckling spaghetti bolognese on the garden, what is wrong with people. I’m glad I’m on the other side of the street.

Daisy and Gem another one ignoring the ironing here , mine in the airing cupboard with the door firmly closed. Out of sight, out of mind.

Oma if we were in a restaurant we would both have to have the soup, skip the mains and go straight on to the dessert, apple crumble and custard, there isn’t anything there that needs using a knife.

Daisy I haven’t a clue why the arthritis is playing me up at the moment. I’ve had niggles in my toes for a few years but all of a sudden it’s been really painful and the arthritis in my fingers have seemed to have happened over night. I can’t cut food, open milk bottles or use a can opener at the moment.

We don’t have anything planned for today, just pottering about in the garden I expect, weather permitting.

    Have a restful Sunday everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi - I really don't know why people feed gulls, especially in the summer when there's plenty of natural food which is much better for them. We have the same problem with jackdaws and magpies driving away the song birds. They're thugs!

Are you having any medication for your arthritis - it sounds so painful, even if it is a good excuse to head straight for the dessert menu. I can recommend having milk delivered in old-fashioned glass bottles with the little foil caps - very easy to open.

It's another bright sunny morning here, so I should be able to give the lawn another trim - much needed.

Enfys - thinking of you and sending hugs.

Have a peaceful, restful Sunday everyone.

        Morning ladies ,
Dull and overcast but very warm ,

I have done two loads of washing I will iron later when dry , I cant leave them it irritates me thinking about having to do them so I like to iron as soon as they dry get them out of the way , its the one job I hate ,

Mimi if I had soup I would have to drink it out of a cup , my wobbly hands mean if I have say tomato soup in a bowl by time I finish I look like I have been stabbed several times in the chest as most would be down my front

We have Magpies that are a pest hear they chase all the smaller birds away , when the squirrel comes to feed on next doors feeder my god the racket they make would out do a rock band ,
Why would you throw Spag bog on the garden ? talk about encouraging vermin are these people mad Mimi

Hope all our ladies are ok today ,
Enfys how are you both doing ?

Have a good day ladies xxx

Good morning all, thank you for all you kind thoughts.

We are doing OK, P is looking a lot better since the chemo finished, it really affected him this time. We have made the decision that, unless there is a dramatic result, he won’t have any more. It makes him feel so bad and we’d rather he can enjoy life than suffer for a little extra time.

Bless him, he is clearing out the garage so I won’t have to worry about it, his words not mine. ☹️.

I have had to force myself to do things, go out etc and try and stop thinking about “stuff”. It’s hard at 3 o’clock in the morning when you can’t sleep and your brain jumps from one thing to another. The big black cloud is hanging over my head and I have to try and ignore it. BUt we will get there and he’s very well for the moment.

I went to my knit and natter yesterday and had a lovely time with the ladies there. A bit of knitting and a lot of nattering, also offered to help one of the “girls”with her family history research so that will be fun. We also have a man coming round in a couple of weeks to sort the garden out. I can do a far bit but not the big hedges etc. He came to look at it and he says he’ll do everything we want plus he’ll sort out the wild bit right at the bottom which will be good. We want it wild but not
too overgrown then I can keep it in order. He was very nice and gave me a few tips about things I can do before they come.

otherwise, all is ok here in hot and sunny Bournemouth. Getting busy with holiday makers so we keep away from town and the main beaches now. Have a good day everyone, keep cool. 😎

Morning Daisy,Mimi and all who check in later.

Enfys you are also in my thoughts and Daisy after your sad news.

Arthritis is a real b.....r I have it in my fingers though not as badly as some of you other ladies it still is pretty painful.

The past two afternoons I have spent cutting both sides of two Leylandi hedges Quite a solo undertaking ,though OH did help with the sweeping up.One is adjacent to the front pavement and the other is down the side of the front garden where the house next door is set back.Though the front grass is dried to a crisp the back needs cutting so that is on the plan for today. Also some major pruning is needed. The days may be long enough but the energy is in short supply

I’m always telling the gulls that come in our garden to go and catch some fish. Thee sea is only a few wing flaps away.

            Hope your day goes well.

Good morning from the land of dodgy internet connection! We now can't phone out as well as no incoming calls. The wi fi cuts in and out!!

              Damned gulls Mimi!
Sending love Enfys , and wishing OH a long period of good health xx
Well done on those hedges Clover, not an easy task!

A peaceful night for us with no car alarm. OH located the moth yesterday and evicted it, so that seems to have worked!
Today we are going out with DD2 and family. They go to Greece on Tuesday, so I wanted to see them all. As the forecast is wet, we are going to the cinema! To Xscape Castleford. We will see Toy Story 4, have lunch and Pizza Express etc.

              Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone I will get into this posting! Wet here at the moment but at least 15 degrees cooler than it has been so I don't mind getting wet. I went to see to the post, hamster etc at my sons house, they will be home again on Tuesday then leave for Croatie in a fortnights time. I got wet cycling home but did have my cape with me to cover most of my body!!

Enjoy the film and the pizza Gem. Enfys, thinking of you and knowing what you are going through. Daisy, yes sad news, as we get older we seem to hear more and more of the sad things.

As for the ironing, do as little as possible, and the birds, I have neighbours next door and they feed them all the year round, the pigeons etc wait in the queue on my terrace to get to the food. Annoying! They had hoped to nest in an olive tree but I put a stop to that.

I also have athritis in my toes, now one of my fingers is playing up, age thing! I had a nasty gash in my finger a week last Friday, my youngest son and partner were coming for a meal, I was chopping veg and my finger got in the way, I rinsed it under the tap but realised that it wasn't going to close so went to my doctor as fast as I could, they finish at 5pm then we have to go to the doctors post in Delft, I was on time and got it stitched, I have to go tomorrow to get the stitches out, it is amazing how neatly it has healed.

                Enjoy the Sunday everyone.

Well its a late good morning from me.

Had to go and see to mam at 7 this morning, not been home long.
Her spondylosis was playing up. She couldn't sit, stand or lie down.
Trouble is there isn't a lot you can do.
She took a painkiller which didn't do anything. It says on the prescription you can take 2.
Persuaded her to take another, which kicked in after about an hour or so.
Anyway, she had a bit of breakfast and felt a bit better when i came home.

Haven't had time to read back, will have to catch up later.

Daisy, condolences on your sad news.

Clover, you did so well with the hedges. I did contemplate doing ours but climbing a ladder with a hedge trimmer didn’t really appeal......well done you and G. It’s getting rid of the clippings too.

Arthritis is awful so I feel for all of you, I have it in my neck and knees but luckily not too bad just makes me a bit stiff at times.

Lots of aches and pains posted today, I feel very fortunate at my age not to be troubled by it. Enfys, pleased OH is feeling better atm, may it continue. I can imagine it is like a cloud sitting over you. Are you planning any trips as you OH isn't suffering atm.

How annoying Gemini, having trouble with phone and internet

There is too much bird feeding taking place atm, they are getting too dependent on us feeding them, as for spag-bol, what are they thinking of.

I am back now from DS and Dil's, had a lovely couple of nights with them. They took me to a birthday party of a of a farmer friend of theirs. DIL and I had a lovely day Sat. in our local town, she wanted clothes for her holiday, I mainly was an adviser and a bag minder but we had fun. I did buy a glittery blouse in House of Fraser sale. One bit of lovely news, my GD1's boyfriend went to join family in Portugal for just one day and with him he took a ring. GD messaged me this morning to tell me they are engaged. He was back here when I got back from DS's and I congratulated him and gave him a hug. GD1 has been very poorly with her bad throat, she really needs to have those tonsils removed as that is the fourth time she has had a bacterial infection in a year.

Lovely to read your post Lizzie, I can see you on your bike. when I visited Holland I kept wandering into the cycle lane when walking on the pavement. Hope your finger is healed now.

Just re visited GRU and was saddened to hear about Daisy’s cousin. Always a horrible shock to hear sad news like that.

There seems to be a lot of problems with arthritis at the moment. I thought it would have flared up more in the winter than the summer, but how wrong can I be.

I hope Lizzies finger heals quickly. Take care everyone.

                              Morning Nan2, and ladies.

                              I agree Nan2!

Glad you had a nice time Plant. Your poor GD, I sympathise, I used to suffer recurrent tonsillitis.

OH, GS1 and I plus a friend of OH are going out for the day. When we planned it today's forecast was good. Now not so good, but improving this afternoon.

Yesterday we had a lovely time with DD2,SIL and children 😊

                              Have a good day everyone.

Bowls for me this afternoon and possibly a bit of housework this morning unless something more interesting comes along. Looking forward to the family coming home on Thursday, I think GD1 will be visiting the doctors about her recurring tonsillitis. I am dying to see her engagement ring.

Lots of trips with GC for you Gemini, hope the weather is kind for you today, it is sunny here atm.
