I was woken this morning by gulls and magpies fighting mid air above our flat. What a horrible noise they make . We used to be woken with the cheery sound of the blackbirds and robins but the bigger birds have scared them off.

Yesterday I collected my wedding ring that has been enlarged (again) and pay for mum’s charm bracelet to be repaired. I also booked to have the bracelet valued next month.

Enfys enjoy your break away, hope you are both able to relax and get some well earned rest.

Oma, poor Storm, hope he is feeling better today

    Plant how is your eye

I have been busy today, I got up the last of the first early potatoes, just the main crop left now. I picked some strawberries and then sowed some more carrots and cress and as I was tidying up the boarders out the front I also sowed some beetroot seeds between the flowers , apparently they can look rather striking in amongst flower plants, it’s the deep red stalks and red leaves that look good next to the green foliage.OH muttered “it’s like dig for victory here “

    Have a good Thursday everyone

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Plant Raisins even a few are very Toxic to Dogs they cause kidney failure and can kill very quickly ,

      Daisy cost her £545 ,

Went to see him and he's very sorry for himself . DD was washing carpet as he had been sick on several spots , thick Black charcoal everywhere , DD said she kept putting a bowl under his mouth but he kept turning his head away and missing it ,
Even naughty Buzz was being nice to him for a change , instead of attacking him he was just sitting next to him and watching

On the Plus side B was discharged to the long term clinic today , has to go in 6 weeks for initial appointment then every 3 month , Professor said he hoped not to see him again in the best possible way of course

          Hello from sunny Sidmouth🌞🌞🌞

The Hotel is fantastic and we have a lovely room with a sea view, weren’t expecting that! I’ve had a swim and a jacuzzi in the spa, no one else there, it was amazing, whilst P had a beer in the bar.....and a snooze no doubt. We’ve walked into Sidmouth, had an ice cream and now relaxing with a cuppa before our evening meal.

It is so nice we have booked to stay for another night, so will be here for 3 nights instead of 2....... they were so helpful and we are able to keep the same room 😀.

              Hello 😎
Internet is so patchy I have to post when I can! I will read and catch up and try to post again later.

Oma - what good news about B. There are several toxicity calculation sites on google - for chocolate, but I can't find any for other toxic food such as raisins, alcohol, macadamia nuts etc. But your DD did the right thing in taking Storm straight to the vets.

Plant - one of the big problems in recent years has been dogs being poisoned by peanut butter with Xylitol or Aspartame in it. Ordinary peanut butter is fine and a lot of people use it in Kongs etc, but the artificial sweeteners are deadly and can kill a dog very quickly.

Enfys - how lovely you can stay an extra night. The weather forecast is good, too.

Gem - I hope you're having a lovely time. Patchy internet is frustrating, but not so bad when you're on holiday.

Mimi - do you wear your mum's charm bracelet? I think they're lovely and so interesting. Goodness, your garden is doing well with all those goodies.

Nanto - lovely to get that decorating finished.

I have had an unproductive day. The visit to the surgery was a waste of time. I was seen by a health care professional (?) who didn't have much of a clue. I had to ask her about the results of the required blood test, and she just vaguely said 'it seems to look all right'! They hadn't tested for something specific which should be monitored once a year, so I now have to go back and have that one done. My BP was raised, hardly surprising, so I get to borrow a BP monitor for a week to prove I'm not going to explode like an overheating boiler!

But then when I got home, we had a lovely surprise as our ex-neighbours, now living in Australia, turned up on the doorstep. They stayed for a chat and a drink and are coming for lunch tomorrow.

We were expecting a BT engineer to come and try and sort out our broad band problems this afternoon. He spent ages checking and testing things and then said, that's it, everything's working and I'm getting 4Mb/s (joy, as we were getting less then 2) I checked it on my computer - and it wasn't working, or on my phone, or on OH's laptop. So off he went to play with cables and was gone for ages. He came back and said he'd replaced the part of our cable at the Cabinet that looked in the worst state, and now, great joy - we get what we were getting before it all went wrong, ie, very little!

Anyway, OH has finally gone off to do the supermarket shop, as we've been eating out of the freezer and store cupboard since we got home on Sunday!

I'm just going to mow the lawn (again!) now it's a bit cooler.

Raisins are toxic to dogs! Even a small amount may cause kidney failure. If your dog ate raisins, contact your vet or Pet Poison Helpline

Very toxic Daisy, Luckily DD next door neighbour is a Vet nurse so advised immediate treatment so DD took her advise

The raisins and dogs thing sounds like cats and lily pollen. The tiniest bit can be fatal. I cut all stamens off any lilies I am given as soon as buds begin to open.
Years ago I thought one of our cats may have ingested some pollen. I dashed her to the vet's who said she seemed fine and in fact the vet couldn't hear her heatbeat because she was purring so much 😁 She is still here, aged 19!
I'm glad poor Storm is ok Oma.
Good for you booking another night Enfys 😊
How annoying to have to go back because they didn't do the right checks Daisy. I'm sure your BP will return to normal.

Sorry I haven't replied to all, but I am reading as much as I can, and posting when I can!

Having a lovely relaxing time of lots of sun, sea, pool, reading (just finished my 4th book since leaving home on Sunday!) and far too much eating!! ☀️

                    Bye for now;

Daisy I haven’t been able to wear it as it was broken when mum gave it to me a few months before she passed away.
I doubt I would wear it when it has been cleaned and repaired. It’s extremely heavy with all the charms on it , it’s not the sort I thing I tend to wear and besides, I would be terrified of losing it !
What a frustrating day you have had , it was good you had a nice surprise with your visitors turning up so the day wasn’t completely a let down.
Hope your bloods are ok when you get them done

Gem good to see you are having a lovely time , all that sun, sea , pool and reading, it sounds fantastic. Enjoy!

                        Goodnight ladies, sleep well

Oma, what lovely news about B your amazing OH. Pleased Storm is recovering, dogs will eat anything. I didn't know about lily stamens I do pick them off as they stain clothes and my DD doesn't like them but I will mention it to her.

Daisy, I hope you get your broadband sorted, very frustrating for you.

Enfys, so pleased you are enjoying your trip, hotel sounds great.

Sorry my contributions are a bit sparse but my eye is still painful, have a Drs appt. this afternoon which the hospital doctor said keep if it still hurting, I suppose a scratch on the eyeball will take a time to heal. I am putting so much gunk into the eye, I can hardly see out of it.
