    A cooking problem

This week I'd ordered chopped pork to use in a casserole as a change from beef, lamb or chicken. I'm not very fond of pork, but it's ok for an occasional change.

However, what I got in the order was pork mince (10% fat). What on earth can I make with that - I've never used it before and can only picture a pale, glutinous sort of sludge. Any advice, please???

I don't think I have used minced pork before. You could maybe make Bolognese or shepherds pie ( or maybe it should be pig herders pie!)

Or make sausage rolls and freeze for Christmas 🎄

I've never used minced pork either.
I would probably make a pork version of shepherds pie, and put some colourful veg in with it.

Is it meant to be used in Chinese recipes? Not something I have come across.

                Pork burgers/meat loaf/sausage rolls?
Have you tried googling pork mince recipes?

Thank you so much for all those ideas. I think there's enough mince to make two lots of meals, so I can experiment. I was totally flummoxed when I saw it - and didn't even think to check with my friend Google, WeeGranny!

I think if I do something that I would normally use beef or lamb with OH will be highly suspicious of it. He's not a fussy eater by any means, but he would either prefer say, beef cottage pie or burgers etc. Or - worse, he'd decide he liked it better than my usual versions and would want it for ever more! So I'm going to try something we don't normally have with any other meat. I've found an easy recipe for pork meatballs on parsnip mash.

The ultimate comfort food: sweet red pepper mixed into these meatballs add depth of flavour and parsnip mash is a great twist on your usual spuds

                  Wish me luck with it!!

                        Thank you both.

Gem - any particular spices you can recommend?

Oma - I bet they've made it a really tasty dish!

Sorry about the confusion - it's all the Christmas avatars that confuse me!!!

I'll probably make them tomorrow, but I might check out the Hairy Bikers' recipe first!! I love how they are so enthusiastic about their dishes.
