Husband is having a great deal of trouble with his elbow. I am having to do his top button up and tie his shoe laces PLUS of course doing kitchen duties. HIs sling is starting to get a bit tatty, it is very difficult finding somewhere to buy a sling you know! I hope everyone else is feeling better

That book is a brilliant idea! I had to buy some cheap and nasty cloths from Matalan that I could step into and pull up. But it was having to have food cut up that I found the most annoying.
Hope this morning brings some improvement to all the mangled limbs.
And - the physiotherapist was brilliant even though it hurt like mad. Two years after I'm pretty much back to normal but you have to be diligent about doing the exercises.

Do you know how difficult it is to buy a sling? He has one of those cream Cotten ones which is getting grubby and the knot at the back of the neck is hurting him. first I went to Superdrug, then to an independent that was yesterday. Today I delayed going to the shops which I do at 7.45am so I can be home for 9 but I wanted to go to the Lloyd's pharmacy which said it had a sling in stock but when I got there they didn't, Boots didn't have one. High street options exhausted.
There is a chemist in a small tatty shopping centre in the middle of the estate down the road which I remembered on the way home and voila! The tatty little chemist had exactly what I was looking for. Plus the pharmacist came out and asked what injury it was for and advised which one would be best so well done that shop! husband will be pleased. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

There is a sling called Betterlife Avivo Pouch Arm Sling from Lloyds Pharmacy on line, it looks very comfortable and it says it is in stock. There is also a very delux one called Actimove Umerus sling on a site called Physical. That one is nearly £14 but it does look very good. Come on spoil him, those cotton slings are not very comfy.Last edited by Plantaholic; 13-06-2015, 01:06 PM.What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

That was the one Lloyd's said they had in stock but when I went there they didn't, to be fair their shop was a bit higgledy piggledy as they are refurbishing but the woman didn't seem very interested in having a look anywhere other on one shelf. The one I got in the end looks very similar and I am sure it will be more comfortable that the Cotten one. It was £6.99 which is not bad for something that will give comfort and which we can keep just in case of future injuries which of course we don't want!If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Hope both Mr Zizi and Glam are feeling better and in less pain. Take care everyone, we don't want any more broken bones
. I slices through the tendon in my thumb a few years ago and was in plaster for weeks so can sympathise with all the problems it brings x

See what happens when I am left on my own? The bottom bruise is not a bruise but a skin flap which keeps bleeding. The other one is a bruise. I just cannot let him be the only invalid can I? I am like the Princess with the pea! I am trying not to cover the bleeding bit except during the day but if I just manage to get it a little bit tapped it starts gushing again. Poor me.....You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Well I am a bit Princes and the Pea Plant. I was putting out the recycling and just caught it somewhere. To be fair I bruise very easily and because I am short I am often to be found with a bruise on my boob from gently bumping into the door handle or a bruise on my arm when I have been mucking around and caught my arm. It did bleed a lot and it is sore. Although I bruise easily I also heal quickly.
Of course none of this would have happened if husband hadn't been silly enough to fracture his elbow so we will just blame him even though he was nowhere near me at the time, clearly a wife beater!!!!If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Husband is no longer wearing his sling but he has a rather lovely bruise on his arm, he doesn't bruise easily (roughy toughy bloke you know - ha ha the most unroughest untoughest bloke I know....). My bruising is going down but the cut which is like a flap of skin keeps opening up and bleeding. Very annoying. Speaking to someone today she said I should have gone and had a tetanus which I suppose I should. Oh well it looks pretty alright except when it is gushing.
Glad husbands elbow is better, now he can do his own buttons and shoelaces thank goodness. The things I do for that man!If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Tonight I am sitting at my work laptop and husband has been doing gardening, how many people with a fractured elbow does gardening? He informed me that he actually thinks he might have fractured his wrist as well because of the pain he is suffering there. WHAT? For goodness sake man, go back to the walk in centre! His response was "Oh I will see how it goes"If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together
