    Husband fell over .........

I was on he train going to a meeting today and got a call from husband. He had fallen and hurt his arm. He is a first aider and said he thought there was some damage. So I said he should go to the hospital, he said he couldn't he was too busy. I said that if one of his team had taken a tumble he wouldn't say they couldn't go to the hospital because they were too busy so get himself there NOW. Of course he took no notice. I even offered to cancel my appointments and go and get him.

After that apparently his hand and arm began to swell and someone noticed so he was marched to the medical centre at head office (where he was just by coincidence) they sent him to hospital.

He has a fractured elbow and some very nasty grazes on his hands. But OH NO! I am not to make a fuss, he did deign to let me get him a whiskey and coke (medicinal purposes you know). He is so annoyingly independent, he fell because of his poor eyesight, 90% loss of peripheral vision, so he didn't see the step in an unfamiliar environment. I said I will take him to work tomorrow and at the moment says he will let me but that might change by tomorrow. Annoying. Oh, wait a minute, he is not going to be able to cook for the next two weeks at least and I will have to do it ........ He can flipping well walk to work. Ha ha. Only joking of course.........

Poor thing he doesn't moan ever but I know he is in pain.

Ouch poor hubs ZIZI,but they are a law unto themselves aren't they.Mine has had a poorly foot for weeks and even promised the Granddaughter he would see a Doctor.Ended up me making an appointment and not telling him until the deed was done. His appointment was for 4pm yesterday and I had planned on taking him, this is when it all went to pot as the dog absconded. He bussed to the surgey and has been diagnosed with Planta Fasciila (spelling wrong I know) no treatment just rest and continue with the insoles he bought. Its a time will heal thing, but with the holiday coming up and knowing there is a lot of walking involved at least we now know whats wrong. Men eh. Of course he had already diagnosed himself thanks to Doctor Google.

I have an embarrassing habit of telling people there is a step or a low beam especially when the light levels are low which is when husband goes completely blind. It has become an inbuilt warning mechanism. I have been known to be talking quite sensibly during a meeting and walking to sit down somewhere next to someone and saying something like "step a bit higher there is an obstacle" or "just bend your head a little bit" without even realising it as I am so used to being the early warning system.

Husband says he knows it was his fault (the fall) as he was, at that moment, in an unfamiliar building and was not concentrating on looking where he was going as he knew he should given his condition but looking for his students who were new (er) than him to guide them in.

MinnyS I remember you with your poorly arm, we met at the 02 didn't we? That seems so long ago now. Must do it again soon.

Husband has not got a big cast, they said there is no point, he has a sling and pain killers. I do not want him to go to work tomorrow but of course he is ignoring me. He has been having a rather loud snooze and I have checked his arm regularly to make sure it isn't too hot or cold. He says he feels OK but of course I worry. Small fry compared with what others have to go through (thinking ladies on here and partners).

Ziz - Poor Mr Zizi. Would it help if we all yell at him "Take a day off work and rest" very loudly? Probably not, I know, but apart from anything else, pain is exhausting and any fall is a shock. I have to smile at you telling everyone to mind the step, etc. I do that at home, only it's Mind the dog, because he has a habit of walking right infront of people because he can't see very well close up, and he's so small you wouldn't notice him!

LG - Poor Mr LG, too. Plantar Fasciitis is very painful indeed. I had it about 3 years ago and still get twinges. Rest and exercises did help - especially the Stair stratches and Dynamic stratches (with a bottle of frozen water) helped, but I needed an injection to get the healing process started. (I can't take NSAIDs) Link to the exercises below -

Elbow MS, it is a fracture not a complete break which is lucky but clearly still painful for him.

Daisy I even say it when I don't know the people! It was interesting a couple of years ago when we took the boys to chessington
World of Adventures and Joe picked up on husband not being able to see in certain areas. He took husbands's arm and said "I will help you granddad" and stuck to him like glue in all the dark rides. I do not recall ever discussing husbands condition with him so he must have just picked up on it.

You will be just what I need in Birmingham Zizi. Hope OH will feel less pain soon. My hand is still swollen and aches because of the exercises I am having to do as per Physio.
