    Double Lung Transplant

Well today is a very big day. My son is, at this moment, in Harefield Hospital undergoing a double lung transplant operation. He has been on the transplant list for six months. Finally a match has become available. Although we know it going to be a long haul, he has finally started on the road to recovery. Phew!

Thankyou everyone for all the good wishes. My son is out of theatre now. Almost 12 hours in total. They are settling him into intensive care. Everything has gone well, but they aren’t expecting him to wake up until tomorrow. He needs sleep to help recovery. I feel like a rung out dish rag, but a very relieved rung out dish rag. Prior to the op he had only 14% lung function. Now he will be able to breathe!
