Well done little fella. He's such a fighter.🤗

Well the interview made the FRONT PAGE and inside cover. Rhys rang to tell us he was famous!
It lead to an interview on the local radio today, which I can't believe I missed , so I'm waiting to hear the Podcast.
The women's' weekly mags emailed her for an interview, but she's declined. Not her sort of thing at all. You can never tell how they're going to write it up can you, anything for a good story.
She really hates this sort of thing and certainly doesn't want to parade Rhys about publicly.
We hoped we could fund this ourselves, but when you add it all up it really isn't doable and all her friends wanted to help and suggested it.
Oooh I just hope it's all worth it and he has a really good outcome. We took the Boys out for the day and he does get frustrated when he can't do all the things the others do. It doesn't put him off trying in the first place though, so "good on him!" Go Rhys, Go!

It is amazing how people will rally round when needed. We have two children in our village with the same medical problem that Rhys has. Thanks to friends and village fund raising the little girls family are ready to go ahead and now donations and village events money is being raised for a little lad, he can't walk at all

That's lovely to hear. Yes it is amazing how people help, once they've heard about it.
I hope they both have good outcomes. I'm hoping that Rhys and his friends have stronger friendships , because of this , and it lasts throughout his school life.
I wish the same for the other children.

GJ, the link worked fine and the video and photos are great to see.

It must be so heartwarming to be amongst so much local support. Well done to everyone, a real community spirit going on.
It was lovely to see Rhys there and he looked as though he fully enjoyed the day.
Is the lady in the wheelchair your mum? So nice to see you all there happily supporting Rhys.

Yes Gem, that's my Mam. She walked over the start line and I pushed her round the village until the end, when she got up and walked over the finish. Rhys greeted her with, "Did you do it Gran?" Then he put the medal over her head. Two very proud people.

Just a few more hic ups to get through then Rhys should be having his op on the 16th June.
DD has been messed about trying to book an MRI scan. First the surgeon said it was free at Nottingham, then she was told she'd have to pay. But couldn't book it as the department heads were arguing about it. Finally was told she can't even pay for it there as she doesn't live in the postcode, argh!
She tried Sheffield and they will do it for free whenever she wants it, but now Grimsby can do it too as they now have a pediatric anesthetist. Fantastic news! Goes to book it for when Daddy is home and she's told there's a 5 week wait, no, no, no!
Emails sent to consultants secretaries here and Nottingham, just a waiting game now....
And the stress just builds, it shouldn't be this hard.

Good to have an operation date GJ, but how frustrating about the mri scan. I hope that is sorted out soon.

Hmm DD gave me this link, but its long and wordy.
Basically they cut some nerves down his back and these will reduce the tightness in his muscles so he will be able to walk better, which will lead to him being able to play football, climb things, run, etc. As he is at the moment his muscles are getting tighter and he will end up not able to walk anymore and really need his wheelchair most of the time. It will take up to two years of physio to see the best results. So it's a long slog. He knows this and understands all about it. He was telling me yesterday, how they will cut him open and sew him back up too.
The changes will be seen with in the first few weeks after the op and he'll just get better and better and stronger too.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

This is a clip of Ethan who has had it done. By the 3 weeks after the op I'm in tears and seeing him at 6 weeks, well it s fantastic.
We just want the same for Rhys. He's slightly worse at walking than Ethan was.
