Just booked a few days in Liverpool in August. We are taking GS to see the terracotta warriors and will spend some time being tourists. Going by train rather than driving and have booked a nice hotel on the waterfront. First time we've taken him away on our/his own!
OH also wants a few days in the West Country to check on parents' grave for one thing and to see old friends who have moved to Minehead. Nothing booked yet though.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Sounds lovely Nana I just wanted self catering been in 3 different hotels this year so far and just want to be able to get up when I .like and sit in my Jim jams, it will be the last week of school hols and I know we will be knackered and need the break, chose that area as itโ€™s as far as OH wants to drive, would have liked to go to Portmerrion but think itโ€™s a bit far for him . Never been to Milford Haven must have a look at it

Qwerty that's why we do self catering...more like home from home. We've holidayed in Wales before & the scenery is so beautiful. We found Tenby & it was out of season. The beach just goes on for miles. There were about half a dozen people on it as well as us. I'm sure you'll enjoy the rest.๐Ÿ˜Ž

Self catering is relaxing, and no dressing up for dinner unless you go out
More often we do self catering, but this holiday is the hotel in Majorca which we have been t twice before. We go half board as the food is fabulous, so no need to trail around looking for restaurants at night.
I had a wonderful but very tiring holiday in Florida last March, followed by my breath-hold radiotherapy treatment. Apart from a week in Northumberland in August, I have had no relaxing holiday for so long! My weeks tend to be so busy, I need a break sometimes.
We leave on Sunday and added excitement is DD2 and 2 friends will be in Palma for part of our stay, and we are meeting up We each booked not knowing the other had booked for that time!

Gemini, you do need a relaxing holiday, child care and looking after your mother must be very tiring

Qwerty - There is a narrow gauge railway which runs from either Caernarfon or Blaenau Ffestiniog to Portmerion. Both routes travel through the spectacular Snowdonia National Park, and it wouldn't be very far to drive to either starting point from Colwyn Bay. It's a lovely day out and while you are so close it would be a pity to miss out.
