Plant - I'm so sorry, I've only just seen this (just catching up with everyone's plans). The ferry goes from Lymington (not Lyndhurst) to Yarmouth. Last time we went as foot passengers and went on a lovely tour of the Island on an open top bus. I think we were able to use our bus passes (if we'd had them!) but I don't know if that's still the same, or is/was only for Hampshire residents. We stopped off at Alum Bay and went down on the 'ski' gondolas, and a short boat trip round the Needles - it's amazing to see them so close up. We had both GSs with us, so the fairground rides back at the top of the cliffs were a must. Then we went on to the Battery where the WWII bunkers are. That was very interesting. Then back on the ferry and caught the train from Lymington to Brockenhurst. The railway station is right by the ferry terminal.Originally posted by Plantaholic View PostI am thinking of arranging a trip to the IOW when GD and I are visiting Warminster. It is years since OH and I went. I am planning to go over as foot passengers and take a tour bus, we would go from Lyndhurst to Yarmouth, any advice welcome.
It was a packed day out but very enjoyable.

Thanks Daisy, silly me got the name wrong. We are still thinking about it but not sure if there would be enough time, we would have at least an hours drive to get to the ferry and then the ferry trip and tour bus. Oh and I did it some years ago.

Plant - the ferry crossing only takes 40 mins - there's no hanging about for foot passengers - on and off really quickly. The tour bus is right outside the ferry port at Yarmouth, and again regular departures. It would be a pity to miss it when you are staying relatively close.

We have just booked 4 nights in Benidorm. Hubby won't go for a week.
(He will stock up on cigars while we are there.)
i fancied going to Madrid, never been there, but we couldn't get anything until May.
Depending on the weather here, that will probably be it,until we go to Las Vegas in October.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

We are doing a murderer mystery weekend later this month and maybe a week in Costa Del Sol in May or early June, if not June the September and then Barbados in November. We are also going to Wales for my sisters sixtieth in June for which I have to make a pretty spectacular cake and ditto niece who is 18 this year and nephew who is 40 this year (all in Wales) and expecting an “Auntie Cake”. That will keep me busy I think.
