Interesting sitting in a bar and a rather substantial obviously mid sixties english lady turned up with a lovely looking nubile young man obviously from Barbados clearly the attraction is not sparkling conversation mmmm wonder what it could be?

Well I don't know how to make them smaller so will have to post on FB. We are out tonight at a "Flavours of Barbados" show. We have been to one before years ago but he company that held it closed down. I am however a bit worried about husband.

He went back to bed this morning and later when we were by the pool he looked in pain, he has been suffering with piles but now he is saying that he is in pain and is very "stuck". I got him some cream and some loosen up tablets but he has now been in bed for over an hour (it is 4.30 in the afternoon). Not like him at all. He said he cannot sit without pain. I want to take him to the doctor and he is being his usual self and getting annoyed with me fussing. What to do??

Zizi - I hope your OH is ok now and nature has sorted itself out, but if not I'd definitely frogmarch him to the doctors. You're not fussing if he's in that much pain. xx

We are waiting for our friends to pick us up for dinner. Have had a lovely day relaxing. Tomorrow we are going on a jeep safari which we have done before but not for a while. This usually results in some aching bones after being chucked around in the back of a landrover around the island but it is usually good fun. You get to go to the forests and places you wouldn't get to on a bus tour. Ibruprofen at the ready then!

Didn't get in until really late last night, really nice evening. Haven't had a good night's sleep as we are being collected at 8.20 and I was sure we would oversleep (it is just before 8 now).

11 year old Sienna confidently predicts that Donald Trump will be assassinated within the first two months, everyone will realise what a big mistake they made and invite Obama back to the White House! 7 year old Tyler doesn't want his mummy to get to 52 because she will die (she is 36), we tried to find out why the witching age of 52 and it appears he has just decided that is the age! When we said that we were 61, 63, 64 etc that was different because we are grandparent and grandparents are supposed to be old. Aren't they funny?

it is very hot here today and I have put leggings on as, if we are going to be in a forest there will be lots of creatures waiting to sample my flesh!! Laters everyone......

Zizi - I'm loving your posts about Barbados. Makes me think of sunnier climes. Love in insights into the children's thinking. I hope for nasties in the forest keep well away.

We are just back, it is 4.15 pm. We are both quite exhausted. We were the oldest ones on the Landrover and the driver was a bit concerned especially seeing the scars on Paul's knees although it was three and a half years ago) and suggested we might like to get in a "gentler" driver's vehicle. Well we were not having that. Great fun, speeding and bumping along forest muddy roads, bit of trees falling in the Landrover, a green monkey jumped on the back and held on and the woman sitting at the back was petrified. He wasn't there long, he was just having a little look. The drivers try to gauge how people are going to be and some of them will not do the bumpy forest roads at speed but will do a sedate trawl. None of us wanted to be sedate although I must admit the small of my back is in need of a quick shot of rum and coke as an anaesthetic ....... I was going to suggest to husband that we take a drink down to the pool for the last hour of sunshine but just heard a very definite snore from his side of the sofa. I did get a bite despite the getter offer spray but only on my ankle and it is fine. I think I was right to wear leggings although they were very hot.

Tomorow we are meeting his ex colleague for lunch and then friends for dinner.

Internet has suddenly become intermittent here. We have spent the day in the hotel by the pool. I was to tired to go any adventures today. Went to the supermarket and finally found a CUCUMBER, there has apparently been a shortage of cucumbers over here. To be honest we don't need one as we are out to dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow and dinner Wednesday but after nearly two weeks of being on "cucumber watch" it had to be bought.

We were sitting here earlier and the BIGGEST cockroach decided to stop by husbands feet. Now as you know I am petrified of "creatures" and I am very good at exaggerating the size of them but I am telling you this was ENORMOUS. Must have been two and half inches long. I have decided that my bags are no longer going on the floor of this pool place in case one of them decides life in a handbag in England is better than life in Barbados!

A delightful little girl dressed in a long blue serge gym slip and gingham shirt came to me and wished me good evening. We had a little chat, she has just finished school for the day. Yes she does like school, no she is not hot in her clothes (I would be), she loves her school uniform as the government buy it for her and if they didn't she wouldn't be able to go to school. They even buy the socks and shoes and hair bands etc. There is a lot of disgruntlement here about economics. A third of the island has no running water as the pumps have broken down and the government say they cannot afford to get them fixed. Our friend Pete and his friends who all have these big truck things get local companies to donate enormous plastic containers and fill them with water and go to those areas at the weekend to ensure they have clean water. Pete says that the areas without water are predominantly poor and that is why the government not doing anything BUT they are spending enormous amounts of money on the 50th independence celebrations. Whilst I can see that is is wrong this is what happens everywhere isn't it but at least they are looking after the children and at least they are now collecting the rubbish which they were not three years ago.

Every paradise has its problems.......
