We are now having a last gin and tonic in the bar of the hotel. We have had a lovely time. The hotel, although a bit shabby, is fine and the people are nice. It is within walking distance of restaurants and shops. It is clean especially the pool. Our flight goes at7.30 tonight and we have the room until 4 then we will get a taxi. I would happily come back here but next will bring a little kettle as there are no beverage making facilities in the room and I need my one cup of coffee in the morning. For some reason in Cyprus they seem to think that we British only drink Nescafé which is horrible. I did bring a small jar of my own and just by chance had some very little plastic bags with seal tops so have been taking those to breakfast. The restaurants serve the most enormous portions, I cannot understand why all the people that live here are not twenty seven stone!

Nicer holiday than the much more expensive one in Tenerife a few weeks back, will definitely come back here.

Well I could do with another holiday after this last week! It was a lovely holiday and we are thinking of going again in June/July if we can get a good deal. Been all over the place this week and haven't had time for GRU except to lurk a bit. I did write something when I was on a train but lost the signal and then had to get off because I realised I was on the wrong train!!

We took an excursion over the border which was quite interesting because it wasn't open the last time we were here. Unfortunately on the way back we were taken off the coach and out on a minibus with six others as we were all in Larnaca and the others were in a different place. The mini bus driver a) took a rather long detour to drop a friend off and b) dropped us all in the middle of the town and we had no idea how to get back to the hotel. The others were very young and happily trundled off to a gaming arcade. We asked the young driver why he was not dropping us at the pick up point and he was exceptionally rude. We asked him to give us directions back to the pick up point as we knew the way from there and he was more than exceptionally rude. I have written a formal letter of complaint but no response yet. Facebook here I come!

Glad you had a good time ZiZi, we got back midnight on Thursday from Portugal, our flight was delayed one hour and because of Air Traffic Controllers strike in France we couldn't use their airspace and it added another half hour to the journey. We travel with hand luggage only as we keep clothes and toiletries etc in our apartment. Sometimes I do carry replacement makeup over in my little sealed plastic bag for 'security' but they have to be under 100ml bottles.

I am afraid I cannot travel hand luggage only. I need my "stuff". We took one bag only and it only weighed 13 kilos for the pair of us. We could have been home almost 45 minutes earlier had we only had hand luggage but in our efficiency in getting to the airport early our bag was one of the first to go down and therefore one of the last to come up!!

We are looking to go away again end of July. Husband said he would like to go and visit an ex colleague of his, I said I didn't want to do a big drive (don't forget he doesn't drive due to eye problem) he said it is only and hour and a half but when I looked up the address it is three and a half hours. He said we could stop over on the way somewhere so that would be four days, stop over first night, get to his friend stopover there, leave there and another stopover. NO! seven hours driving for a one night stay is too much for me, plus the following day after getting back I have a big event and I don't want to be tired for that.

It never used to bother me especially when it was for work but to be honest I am finding life quite stressful these days and anything I can do to lessen that the better. I did look at using the train but again it is a very long journey. Husband is all "oh we can have plenty of stops" but that is not exactly the point in my opinion especially when I am quite certain that there will be a fair amount of snoring from the passenger seat!
