    Little holiday coming up

My ironing fairy will be bringing my bag back today and I can finish packing. I am working at home tomorrow but have a lot to do then on Tuesday I am in town for a meeting and we have to be out at 5.30 am on Wednesday so I have to get it finished today. I am looking forward to it after all the goings on of the last couple of weeks. Apparently it is going to be high 70 degrees which suits me down to the ground. Husband said we should just take hand luggage but I cannot do that as I need to take my foundation, cleansers, deodorant etc. so we are taking one medium sized bag to check in.

When I booked it the flights were fixed so decided to come back Sunday instead of Monday late evening which meant that he would only get a few hours sleep before starting on his shift on Tuesday and what has he done? Accepted a shift on Monday starting at 5.45am!! GGGGRRRRR. This means he will come in on Monday afternoon and snore for Europe all afternoon so all my good work in trying to keep him from getting overtired is completely undone! Men, honestly don't you just want to smack them alongside the ear hole sometimes?

Why are men obsessed with the idea of hand luggage only? OH often "happens to mention" people who don't insist on lugging suitcases with them. Invariably they are in the uk for one night or have fully equipped holiday homes with complete wardrobes of clothes and duplicates of all toiletries and cosmetics!

My OH does the same taking on jobs after I've planned and plotted for some down time.

You really need a relaxing break and to get away from all the stress and strain.

I know Shem it is annoying waiting at the luggage turnaroundy things but it is also annoying when you get on the plane and there is nowhere to store anything in the overhead lockers, even a handbag, because of people with bags rammed with stuff which they do not even look at for the duration of the flight. I like to take a slim briefcase with my iPad, ear phones, pens, paper and puzzle books plus a little bottle of mouthwash and hand wash and have a very small cross body bag with money and essentials in like reading glasses, tissues etc. Anyway I am not afraid to admit that I am quite high maintenance in the beauty department and like my high end products, I love L'Occitaine and quite often will save the samples I get when I buy there to take on holiday BUT you cannot do that with everything can you? I did once try decanting my Estée Lauder foundation into a very little bottle and it ended up liberally spread across everything else in the bag!

I have packed very carefully, three short skirts, one long skirt, one pair of pallazzo pants, a sort of "going out" top, a loose multi coloured shirt which is one of my favourites, four strappy tee shirts, three sleeved tee shirts, wedges (yes the ones I fell off in Barbados year before last), plain black flip flops, undies, beach bag. I have got the clothes I am wearing to town on Tuesday, it will be a boring meeting but it is a senior management meeting so I like to look businesslike and I have my travelling clothes put to one side as well. Totally organised. I think. Until I look at something and change my mind......

Have a fab time Zizi, sounds like you need it and looking forward to it....

We went to a wedding last weekend with hand luggage, your right its the make up thing and toiletries, then OH will say do you need two lipsticks. yes daytime and nighttime, they just dont think these things through do they... when we got on our flight everyone had hand luggage was a right squeeze getting it all on the overhead, i think my SIL is the only one who had a suitcase on the whole flight, i wonder if they will stop it, or make the hand luggage sizes smaller..

Well enjoy your break and take as much make up as you like,.....

Friends who own a holiday apartment in Spain manage with hand luggage only as they have clothes, toiletries, beach towels etc all over there. I couldn't manage with only hand luggage for more than a night or two.
There is far too much hand luggage crammed on flights these days, I agree. That would be partly solved by airlines abandoning charging for luggage!

            Enjoy your holiday Zizi

Zizi - have a lovely time. I don't think I could manage with just hand luggage, although it makes a huge difference if the hotel supplies beach towels - they're so bulky they seem to need a case all of their own. You certainly can't do without your usual toiletries - well I can't anyway!

I worry about the amount of hand luggage people take on board. There must come a point where the weight, not the size, is a factor, but I suppose the airlines then load the hold up with freight to make more money so they're not likely to change things.

When we flew to our last cruise there was a weight limit specified on the hand luggage but I didn't see any being checked and some people had what I would call a small case not hand baggage.

Sorry almost forgot to wish Zizi and hubby a fantastic holiday

I am very excited about holiday tomorrow. It is only four days but so looking forward to it. We also had some news today about a pension which husband took out way before I knew him and it is really good. Fizz on the menu tonight and early to bed. 4.15 am start tomorrow. I am in PJs, no make up, bags packed, sun hats at the ready. Yay!

PLant we have decided £15k for a kitchen is definitely not on and will rethink when we are back from holiday. We are here in Larnaca now, uneventful journey, hotel is small, suffice to say it is very basic but it is clean. I have taken to copying Oma and lugging a pillow along with me as I find it difficult to breath if I am lying completely flat. The pool is small but again clean and not freezing cold which is a bonus. Have found some nice restaurants to visit tonight. Left my hairbrush behind (how did I do that?) so we had to hunt for a shop that sold them. The one I bought is a bit rubbish but it will do for a few days.

It is 76 degrees here...... Will post some pics in the next couple of days

I always take a pillow, sometimes they are so flat and lumpy. Premier Inn was fine as the advert claims.
