Zizi - it sounds like time to dig out your Dunkirk spirit - not what you want to do on holiday though!

I hope at least the weather is behaving for you and you're getting a chance to relax and recharge your batteries.

Well I have recovered from being a moany old bat. Monday the weather was not great, Tuesday slightly better and Wednesday a bit better still and I had a full body massage, facial and reflexology. Day one I tried the white wine, yuk, wouldn't use it for cooking so tried red, marginally better. Gin and tonic couldn't go wrong could it? Only if the tonic comes from a tap and is as flat as a pancake. Fine, Dunkirk Spirit as Daisy says, take a cold can of Schweppes tonic with you and use that (staff are not happy with the solution but we don't care!).

On Wednesday after massage, I was expecting husband to be on a sun bed but found him on the terrace, we spent a happy few hours reading and having some drinks and observing "Mr SOS". He has SOS on his shirt. His job is life guard, keeper of the sun beds and stopper of people hogging sun beds, we also discovered yesterday that he is the first aid person as well. Keeper of sun beds: you have ever seen such lines of sun beds, they are very close together and in strict lines, husband sat on terrace as mentionedpreviously because he said he felt he was in a seal colony lying there! Every now and then he smartly sets off down the steps and readjusts all the sun beds so they are exactly about four inches apart, all backs are at the same level and they are exactly in line.he is not happy when the wind catches the back of them and they slam shut. At this point he also decides who has outstayed their welcome on the sun beds. I swear he has a photographic memory. Anyone who has left their towels/bags/books on them and gone off for a certain length of time has them removed and they have to go and ask him for them.

An older chappie who had downed copious amounts of booze went down to the pool and collected his stuff. I made a comment to husband to the effect that he had spent almost three hours drinking non stop (the man not the husband). On the way back up the steps he slipped on the third step (the partitions are glass) and landed on his shoulder. You could see he had done some damage. He was Spanish and would not sit still, didn't want any help, shouted what I think were swear words until Mr SOS turned up. Now I know we whinge about our NHS but it took three hours for the ambulance to get to him!

Today we went on an island tour, it was enjoyable and I will tell you about it another time as the tour guide was non stop talk and we were mostly on a coach from 7.30am until about half an hour ago. I need to have some quiet time.......

Zizi - it could only happen to you - Mr SOS sounds as though he should be Mr OCD, but at least you don't have towels on every sunbed from 6 am!!

I suppose the ambulance service get used to visitors who have over-indulged and don't treat them as urgent, but you wouldn't want to put that to the test.

Look forward to hearing about the island tour. xx

I wondered that too Gem. She's posting on FBK so I think she might be.

Yes, Nana, I too noticed that. She had seen her GS in a play - so she must be back!

I just wrote a heartfelt and honest reply Gem and once again got a "human verification" message and frankly I am too tired and stressed to bother writing my response again. I hope everyone is OK but I am going to take a break from here. I may pop in here from time to time to have A lurk and will do the same on FB but I don't do a lot on FB apart from share and post the odd comment.

Zizi, I'm so sorry to hear you are so stressed. I'm also sorry to about the Human Verification thing. I wonder if it is linked to the device you are using? It's so annoying to lose a post.
Please take care of yourself, and know we are here for you when you feel ready to post xx

Off to Cyprus on Wednesday, looking forward to it. Have hardly unpacked from the last holiday but I don't care. We are going to have to spend over £1000 on a new boiler which keeps cutting out and then no heating or hot water, the kitchen quote was £15K which we have both agreed is way too much, there wasn't even that much in there apart from normal units, but it was the higher spec kitchen. The kitchen is about the same size as a normal three bed house bathroom and having discussed it we have decided not to go for it but downgrade our expectations. I am sure the kitchen will be lovely even without being top spec. Anyway we are not going to order the kitchen for a few weeks for various reasons.

I looked on Accu Weather and it is 80% in Cyprus on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, cooler Saturday and Sunday. I don't care...........

I have never been to Cyprus but one of my friends loves it and goes as often as she can.
