No we are doing that Tuesday Sum1, we decided in view of drama during journey to stay close to hotel for first couple of days. Might take a walk to the nearest town later but going to take advice about the timing. I think 12 to 3 is the hottest and therefore not advisable especially given recent events. Rep advised not wearing my full jewellery. Said it is all "pretty safe" but nice jewellery attracts a certain type of person who will think we are rich and pester us. Oh err, been in Wandsworth for 18 months with my goods firmly hidden now I come here and have to do the same!

Daisy I am the one that the mozzies in England lookout for, when they see me at an airport they phone their mates and tell them to expect breakfast lunch, high tea, dinner AND midnight snacks ............

Yes, me too Zizi, I am instantly covered in bites if not extremely careful. Worst ever was in Menorca. Never been bitten in USA or Canada or OZ. Just Europe!

        Love the Pool!!!

Portugal was our worst, even husband got bitten to death. This was about five years ago in around April ish time. It was a case of bites on top of bites, I was like one big human bottle of calamine lotion another time was in beloved Barbados. We were at our friends which is surrounded by brush. It was lovely weather and then it suddenly rained, we went inside and I think the creatures came with us, even our Bajan friends suffered!

Enjoy your break you two it looks delightful just dodge the beastie mozzies they will get fed up sooner or later,I could go to bed fully covered and still wake up bitten in all manner of places, worst was in Canaries one year when bitten on elbow it swelled up like a ballon and hubby had to call on duty medic as it made me so poorly,he was such a handsome chap and i had to bend over for a massive needle in my rear end soooo embarrassing and to make matters worse it cost about £65 in UK money.

That's why you need to take my OH along with you - every mozzie in the world loves him to bits (or is that 'bites'!). I think that's why I am relatively lucky! Of course you will understand that I do have to chaperone him on these mercy missions. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to administer the calamine in delicate places!

Glamm - My OH is equally happy to go to the Canaries if needed!!!!

Today was a mixture. Mostly very hot with a breeze. This evening a storm. The lightening was dramatic but unfortunately not captured on camera, might have got something on my good camera but only had my little point and shoot with me.

Entertainment was a bit boring in the hotel tonight so we got some drinks and came to the room. I was tickled because the exotic young man serving us behind the bar was called. ........... Wait for it........ Bert Grimshaw. Never did anyone look less like a Bert, let alone a Grimshaw. Did make me smile.

I am not a great one for swimming but after a conversation today I decided I would go to the loo and swim up to the husband. Of course this plan went badly wrong when I realised I still had my watch on,so I went back to where he was on the sun bed reading the kindle. He didnt say anything so I took off my watch and walked away to the other end of the pool. He looked up four times when I was swimming toward him (unusual for me to be in a pool unsupported) and didn't recognise me! I shouted and he said "what are you doing in there?" Good heavens is it really that difficult to see what I am doing man?

Anyway we swam to the bar at which point it started to rain. Why do people rush around like loonies when it rains in th Caribbean? It only lasts for a short while and it is warm rain!

I know Gem, how funny. I am afraid I am laid up today, tummy playing up and sickness, bit of trembling but no breathlessness. We were going to walk to the village which is half an hour away but we have decided to leave it until later to see how I am. It chucked it down last got so I didn't sleep well, we are upstairs with a flat roof and it sounds like a herd of elephants! Husband slept through it of course. There is also some thunder rumbling around. I think I might have to go to the doctor when I get back.......

I hope you are soon fully recovered Zizi. I prescribe not bothering to walk about looking at anything. Relax and recharge

I had a light lunch of soup and I will have salad for dinner as we have the trip out tomorrow. I won't be able to go ifi have a dodgy Tum as it is a jeep type tour BUT everything has stayed in one place since lunch time. Early to bed tonight I think....... IT is just so annoying to be here and not have the strength to do things,at least I am out of the room, I didn't dare move out this morning!

Zizi - I think LG is right. You're exhausted and your body is telling you to stop, rest and recuperate. Can you do the trip you'd planned tomorrow later on in your holiday - you don't want to be back at square one! xx

No Daisy This particular one is only Tuesday's and was chosen by husband and tour rep as it is "gentler" than the others which involve long climbs etc. If I don't feel well tomorrow I know husband will be disappointed but he will be fine if I say I cannot do it. Managers reception tonight. I have made a complaint via reception. I know some of you smoke and I also used to but this has "non smoking hotel" everywhere and there is a smoking area albeit away from everything else. Around the bar area by the pool there is a roof enclosed area and then an area which is not enclosed and there are seats and tables. This particular couple smoke like chimneys and just this afternoon I counted the woman smoking five cigarettes in just half an hour. Then they don't make personal arrangements for what is left, they just throw it over the wall onto the beach. This is a turtle nesting ground (although we are here at the wrong time) and even if it wasn't what are they thinking of?'

I am not an anti smoking "nazi" I promise but feeling queasy and being next to smokers who shouldn't be there and should respect the hotel policy if not the feelings of those around them makes me want to complain, so I did. A woman waiting behind me at reception said that if it was her she would confront them. I said that a) I did not want to have an argument b)I am not well c) there are other ways to deal with it.
