    Where to go!

We have a holiday to Majorca booked for September, which I am very much looking forward to. We know the hotel well, we love the food, the pools and the fact that we swim in the sea there every day. One reason the going in September is that the sea is so warm then.
It's a long time to wait though!
OH has a 5 night day break with golf friends to Portugal in May, but apart from a long weekend in Northumberland next month there is nothing else booked for us both.

I could see the calendar filling up with so many golf dates that we wouldn't be able to have a holiday if we wanted one! We earmarked two separate weeks for OH to keep clear. We will only use one of them. We don't know where to go however,
I can't decide whether to stay in the UK or go abroad, and if in the UK where to go! As I made point of us keeping the time free I feel I should make some decisions! I'm not as mobile as I would like, yet so that is a big thing for me . Not wanting to book anywhere which requires more than I can do. I hate to limit OH who is a lot fitter than me, but it's pointless pushing myself as it wont work.

    Ideas and suggestions welcome

Gem, I'd be torn between going to Europe (not too long a flight) and enjoying a good, flat beach, or, going somewhere in the UK that you haven't visited before, where you can have a mixture of relaxing and gentle strolls round the local attractions..

I assume you don't want steep hills to climb etc, so what about the East Anglia coastal resorts. Or parts of Somerset. Does a city break appeal to you?

Gemini, Go somewhere with reliable weather and wonderful beaches, perhaps a golf course for S to knock a ball around and you can rest on the beach with a good book.

            Thanks everyone

After much discussion of UK vs abroad and beach vs city break, I think we have more or less decided on Malta!

I have never been and S went many years ago with her mum.
I found a nice hotel on the beach do we can swim. There's a but stop very close if we want to explore a bit.
I think we may book this but want to think it over tonight.

Gem, I've never been either, but it's always a good idea to think about it overnight.

Plant, are there any plans for your family to go to Cornwall this year?

Went to Malta a few years ago! If I remember correctly it was very windy! Lots of lovely ice cream shops so OH was very happy!

Oma we won't be hiring a car so will go in a hotel where we don't have to cart shopping about

My OH was offered a job in Malta but before we had arranged everything the Maltese government felt out with the British Government so the position was cancelled. I was sort of relieved. We had GM and a dog at the time.

We did book this and are going in July

We have also just booked a family weekend away near Sherwood Forest.

I was hoping for a family trip to mark our joint special birthdays, but knew it wouldn't be a holiday as such this year. I hoped for a weekend away, but as we hadn't got anything arranged I had settled for a family meal out. Then suddenly people started looking at airbnbs (which I have never booked) and found a few options for a family of 11.

We are going the weekend before my birthday. This was the closest to the two birthdays when everyone is free.

Looking forward to it very much

Gem, I have done airbnb a few times, the lady in charge of the coffee is a huge fan, they all went to Disney Paris the other week and stayed in one, this last week she was in Cyprus with a friend, also airbnb's. GD1 and friends have booked a lovely apartment in Dubrovnik for their summer holiday.

Lizzie, my DIL2's mother does Air BnB in her own home. She enjoys the company and has met some very interesting people. I don't think she generally offers meals, but does sometimes by arrangement - usually breakfast - and she's very kind about ferrying people to and from the station.
