Foreign holidays in the present situation

Personally I wouldn’t go abroad but if it’s allowed it’s an individual’s choice.I think there should be more publicity about the dangers of Covid as I feel some people are getting too complacent

As you all know my DD and I go to Majorca every year for a "mum & daughter" week together sometimes twice a year this year we have obviously had to cancel our May week and had not booked Sept/Oct one and with the loss of my darling John added into the mix we decided to change the May booking to June of next year we just have to hope and pray things may have changed by then but if it is not possible we will have to ask to be refunded, at present I would not take the chance I think but if DD was able to have time off work for isolation we may have given it a second thought but she can't ask her boss for time off again this year as she had a month off when her dad died and her boss paid her full salary for that month.

No! We’ve cancelled our holidays this year, a three day visit to Ghent in lockdown which was taken out of our hands and a week in the Lakes, likewise. We were supposed to be flying to Crete for a week’s walking holiday in October but we’ve cancelled that. Given our ages I think it’s just not worth the risk. It’s the travelling rather than what we’d do there that is the danger spot I think.

However, I’m seriously worried about the risks for us, will post on Yeo later.

Sum1Ls wasn't Crete one of the Islands that has to have isolation imposed yesterday by our Government due to the rise in infection over the past week ?

I don’t fancy flying anywhere at the moment, but I would consider holidaying in the UK.
I booked a Caribbean Cruise pre Covid. It is not until November next year. I will just wait and see what happens. I may or may not go. The cruise is a long one, sailing there and back from Southampton. Time will tell.

My grandson (the student) went to Crete with friends, had a test when he got back, it was positive, had another a week later it was negative. He hasn't felt at all ill but is isolating in his bedroom. By the way he has decided to go back to University in Sept, rather than just waste a year. I am pleased.

Plant - I think there is some uncertainty about how long you might be infectious for, but I'm so glad your lovely GS is ok.

I'm pleased he's going back to uni as well. I know it's not how he'd planned things but he may as well complete his MA and then start job hunting next year when hopefully things will be better.

We should be in Portugal now but we re arranged our flights 2 days before Boris opened the airbridge so I feel a bit frustrated. Our son went last week to Portugal and he felt very safe. We hope to go in November but this will depend on the airbridge remaining open. I don’t mind if it closes whilst we’re there isolating for 14 days on return wouldn’t bother me.

Yes, as long as you are able and prepared to isolate on return Avo, fingers crossed you can make the trip.
