I'm sorry too Gem. I think we all knew how much you were all looking forward to it.

Gem a friend of ours has just learned he will not be flying home on Friday from Spain and another is in Malta not sure he will get home either .

Better plans change now than getting there and not getting home although I know how disappointed you are lv xxx

Oma - I hope your stranded friends will be ok for things like accommodation, money etc. It must be a worry though not knowing when they'll be able to get back. Years ago, at the time of the oil crisis and the 3-day week, we got stranded when we were visiting OH's brother. It was about an extra 10 days before we could get a flight home, but at least we were staying with family, and we were missing the power cuts, petrol shortages and the British winter - in the Bahamas!

Gem - does your GS know yet that the holiday is postponed? xx

Daisy I know one is in a hotel but I think the one in Malta may be self catering so what happens if they are confined to wherever they are staying ?

The one in Spain is actually our ex BIL he was married to B's sister many years ago but we stayed friends he's a nice man , we know he will be able to afford to stay there and he's retired no family to care for or pets ,

Our other Friend we not sure about but they have children who could transfer money etc if they can get out to get it that is ,

Times like this I say stay at home is best policy ,

I don't know about anywhere else, but certainly in the States they are allowing people to travel back.

Daisy I don't know if GS knows or not. I guess he will by the time I see him on Tuesday, but I won't be mentioning it first just in case.

Phoned my sister yesterday, her son lives in Hong Kong, he says he can't understand what all the fuss is about. it is just another flu virus and he is planning to come and visit her at the end of the month, she has only just come out of hospital having had pneumonia. I hope he doesn't come.

Gems as soon as I heard the news I thought of you and your lovely family such a shame I do hope things can be rearranged for October.
Plant I would feel worried about your nephew visiting is he on another planet and not realise how dangerous it would be if he passed on any infection ? even going on a plane for such a long trip could spread so many germs via the air conditioning silly man imo.

                    Thank you Glamma.
In some way not being allowed to fly makes things a bit easier. We should be able to move our flights with no charge as opposed to getting a voucher to do so which they offered last week when it was just your choice to not go.
I have put in a claim on our insurance for the cost of the villa, to send out at midnight on Monday night when all flights to the USA are stopped. If by any chance that doesn't work I will ask the villa owners if there is anything they can do. It is not only my money, as I paid for it all but the other 2 groups paid me a third each, so it will be everyone's money which is lost if we cant be refunded.

Plant I agree your nephew should not visit your sister just phone her.

I went on last night and cancelled all our fastpasses ,and our meal at the Rainforest Cafe. Very sad.
GS1 now knows. He's a very political little boy for 7 and cried and said now he hates Donald Trump even more! Hardly DT's fault this time, but he deserves it for everything else!

The villa owners have already refunded the £300 security deposit plus the £201 for pool heat. We will apply for the remainder in insurance.

Premier Inn are allowing everyone who has rooms booked during the No Fly time to rebook another time, or another hotel, so we won't lose that money as we thought we would.

Awww what a pity, after all your hard work too. You must all feel devastated. I love your GS1's reaction ... a boy after my own heart.😉

Gem - it's so sad you holiday isn't taking place this year, but I'm glad you're minimising the financial hit in various ways.

Well done to GS1, as you say, we can't blame DT for this but it's good GS has found a focus to vent his disappointment. xx
