Perfect for sightseeing as long as the rain holds off.

The rainy and drizzly couple of days passed and yesterday was sunny but cool, and today has been sunny and warm, with a breeze!

Yesterday we, with DD3 went to an annual local pumpkin racing festival, on the lake. this has to be seen to be believed!! I will post some photos once I am home. Great fun!
Today OH and I set out alone as both DD and SIL were working. We had a good day, visited some beaches, walked and sat, ate lunch in little countryside cafe. We, DD and SIL, all unknown to each other brought wine back tonight LOL, so we are having some

Another work day for the young ones tomorrow, and the four of us are eating out tomorrow night.

Gem - I'm sure just spending time with DDs and SIL is enough, but how lovely that you're getting out and doing some sightseeing. I imagine there are some beautiful places nearby. The pumpkin race sounds fun - looking forward to seeing the photos.

Enjoy your meal out tonight. xx

Time is whizzing by and we fly home tomorrow!!
Our flight is not until 10.50 at night though, so we have another day.

Yesterday OH and I spent the morning in Halifax and went to the Citadel, which was very interesting, and really windy up there!
In the afternoon we drove to a lake and walked around it a bit and into the forest. Last night the 4 of us went out for a very nice meal and couple of bottles of wine, our treat.
Today we, with DD and SIL did some sightseeing. Peggy's Cove - a famous lighthouse, and a couple of other places. We are all glad of an evening in now.

Gem - it's flying by so quickly! I think it's rather nice to have a late flight - you feel you've got an extra day, and you don't even have to check out of a hotel by a certain time. xx

That's right Daisy, late flights are not much fun when you have no ''base' from checkout time on wards. We have a day with DD and SIL, then can get showered and changed here for the flight, and will set off for the airport at 7ish.
Very sad to say goodbye of course but we have made lovely happy memories with them to hold us over the next few weeks, and to take back to the rest of the family 😊

Our last day was spent packing, and going into Halifax with DD and SIL. We went down to the waterfront again, and bought a couple of souvenirs. We then had a nice leisurely lunch. On the way home we bought cakes to eat later.
We chatted to DD and SIL in the afternoon and had our tea and cakes. SIL went to his pottery class at 6.30 and we left half an hour later, heading for the airport. Our drive to the airport was uneventful, and we had no problem finding somewhere to fill the tank with gas, and were in good time to check in for our flight.
Our journey home was eventful, and I have written about this on YEO

It was so nice to see them both, especially my DD. Not only to see and spend time with her, but to see and report back to her sisters, how she is doing. She had a bit of a difficult time at first and has been stressed. She seems much happier now, to have found her place.
However I was also able to come back and reassure everyone that they have no intention of staying there permanently!
Whilst we were there they booked a nice airbnb cottage for 2 nights over Christmas. They think Christmas away from us all, and their new friends doubtless with their own families, would be odd, so decided to do this. The cottage has a washer and dryer, so they intend to take all their washing

It must have been lovely not only to see your DD3 andSIL but to see where they are living, visit the places they go to and experience that area. When DD is talking about what they've done or where they've been you will be able to picture it. What a good idea to book something up for Christmas - it will be a strange time for them, I think. I had to smile at the thought of them arriving, staggering under several bin bags of laundry! But the best news must be that they are definitely planning to come home. xx

I have missed them loads since we came home!!

Today they are back in Canada, having spent a week with friends in Pennsylvania.
A couple with a little girl. DD and the wife used to work together. They had a lovely time. On the way back, at Toronto airport waiting for the second flight of their journey, a man gave them his guest passes for the First Class lounge. They were delirious with joy (and probably the free wine )

Gem - every day you miss them is also a day closer to them coming home. I know it's not much consolation, but the time will pass.

It's lovely that they've had a holiday within their holiday (although I know they're working, so it's not a total holiday). I can imagine their delight at the passes for the First Class lounge. It's random acts of kindness like that that restore faith in human nature.

Start counting the days Gem and crossing them off. It’s lovely DD and SIL had such a good time with friends and a bonus of luxury at the airport can’t be bad.
