Yes do wave Nan2
No not long at all Plant.
We need to get the suitcase out soon to practice! A piece of luggage is not included and quite expensive on this airline, so we are going to try to get by with one, and some stuff in our hand luggage.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem - some years ago when I needed to get a lot of luggage into a case I read that rolling clothes up from the hem takes up less space. It sounds wrong, but it worked. Also you can wear several layers. I suppose it will be getting quite cold in Canada by October. Following on from Daisy's post I saw where someone used those sucky-out air plastic bag things. Good description or what?😂 The ones where you put your stuff in a plastic bag then zip it. There is then a hole where you suck out the air with a vacuum nozzle. The whole bag shrinks. Don't know what you'd do if you don't have a hoover nozzle at your destination tho."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

DD and I had a long chat this afternoon. They want tea bags, oatcakes and whiskey bringing!
I have now completed the ETA forms for us both. These are like the US ESTA, but half the cost and for 5 years as opposed to 2.
OH will get the case down this weekend not long now!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem - it's getting exciting now!
The ETA forms sound a bargain compared with the US equivalents.
Is it legal to take the things DD3 wants? I remember taking various goodies out to our friends in Canada some years ago, and it wasn't until I read the landing cards they gave out on the plane that I realised they were all illegal. I'd never make a smuggler! When I had to stand in front of the (very young and handsome) Customs Officer and he asked if I'd got any of a long list of items, I could feel myself going red! I muttered that I'd taken some chocolate to eat on the plane but hadn't finished it. And he didn't check! Phew. Never again!"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Well we are packed apart from last minute things. Daisy, I think it is usually things like fruit and meat which are restricted.
We have a slightly more complicated cat sitting arrangement this time. It is rather a long time for our older cat sitter to leave her OH, so she is going home for the middle weekend to spend time with him (she lives 40 miles away) and then our neighbours will pop in to feed and check on the cats until she is back on the Monday. We have fed their cat several times now, so they were happy to help out.
We travel to Glasgow on Monday, and fly at 9.30 am on Tuesday.
We have hired a car from the airport, so hopefully we can find our way to Halifax!! DD will be at work but SIL will be there to let us in, and make us a cuppa. I have missed him so will he glad to see him, then of course lovely DD once she gets in“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
