Passport renewal

Over the weekend I have renewed my passport or am in the process of doing it online , I’ve veen putting it off for ages as you have to take a photo of oneself on smartphone, well I don’t look good on any photo but one with my hair scraped back, and not smiling I am just not attractive !
Reading the notes beforehand the pic had to be so many cms above my head shoulders showing so much below my chin I thought it was going to be a nightmare ,they do tell you in advance of applying if the photo isn’t right , the actual form filling is a doddle OH took the photo we put it in the square and so far so good they have accepted the pic although I am told when they process it things might change we shall see.
Now have to send my old one back , this is the first day I have had chance to get to PostOffice for stamps and post it, already I have had a text to say please send old passport so we can process which tells me they are on with it.
I think this will be my last passport in 10 yrs I will be nearly 80 so don’t think abroad will be on the cards certainly not if I had to apply for another 10 yrs at the cost of £80 that’s cheaper than sending it by post, I keep my fingers crossed that I will receive it back soon 😀

Qwerty we did ours last November when I had long hair , OMG I look hideous ,
Couldn't wear my Glasses, had to take my hair off my face , couldn't smile ,
We went into a photography shop and the lighting was awful , full light and almost touching my nose she was so close ,
B looked dead on his and not him at all without his glasses ,
Its not cheap to renew either
I could put mine on the mantle piece and it would frighten the kids keeping them away from the fire as they used to say

We had our photos done at the post office where we applied for our passports. We do not look pretty!
We pay the extra you can pay for the post office to precheck your photos to avoid them being sent back. Once, despite this DD3's was sent back, as it said too much hair was covering one of her eyes!

We renewed ours in March.only took a week for the new ones to arrive.

I find it bizarre that we have to push our hair away from our face, take specs off etc when we go through passport control we look nothing like it, our hair is on our face , full make up on in my case possibly spray tanned and smiling , Oma you made me chuckle I look dead on mine too or very ill 💀

The funniest one I have ever seen is GS1's passport photo, taken when he was a toddler. As they have no plans to go abroad again in the foreseeable future, his passport will expire and he will have an updated photo on his next passport

Another thing I find strange Qwerty , as you say most women have makeup on or a spray tan and they change their hair style and colour so when you as you say get to passport control you are nothing like it

Ahh, but when everything goes electronic, they need to get a clear view of eyes and face shape.

Passport photo regulations change nearly as often as OH changes his socks, and according to my DS2 a lot of electronically submitted photos are rejected. In their shop they have special software to submit the photos direct to the passport office to be married up with the person's online applications. So those photos are on file. My passport photo is so pale it's hard even to see it's me on a bad day!!! lol

We might change our hair have full make up & fake tan but what if oh grows a beard or a mustache or worse both
