What gets you up in the morning?

Do you have an alarm clock, radio, special light thing, someone bringing you a cuppa, the cat, dog, or do you just get up when you feel like it, my bladder gets me up unfortunately never fails like clockwork how about you?

Me too, Qwerty, don’t usually need an alarm clock unless I have to be up and some unearthly hour.

My cat. She yowls outside the bedroom door at 10 minute intervals until I get up. Usually between 7.30 and 8.

If I have to be up early I set the alarm on my phone, which is a nice gentle sound to wake up to. OH has a horrific sounding alarm clock. It would work well to announce the end of the world!!
Unless either of us has to be up and out early, or the GC are coming, we don't set an alarm.

I don’t sleep well, about five hours a night max., and husband usually goes out for early shift anywhere between 3.30 and 5.30am at which point I will not go back to sleep properly but will doze and will usually get up quite early. If I am going up to town for work I would always set an alarm on my phone as Sod’s law says I will fall asleep deeply and then panic like mad because I am ten minutes late. It is almost unheard of for me to sleep beyond 8am. When we had the shop 2 or 3am was the norm to get up to the garden before the good stuff was snapped up. When I think about it now I just don’t know how we did it and opened the shop at 6am until 6pm and ran the big house we had and looked after three kids.

I normally wake up about 8 a.m. but sometimes it’s earlier/later. If I need to get up for something special I set my phone alarm.

I’m not very good at getting up! I stay in bed reading whenever possible. I am in an hotel in Wales as my learn to swim course starts tomorrow and I have to have breakfast before 8.30 and the lessons start at 9.15! I think getting up will be a bigger challenge than the swimming lessons!

Will be thinking of you Shem. Well done for doing that. I am lucky that I cannot remember not being able to swim having had access to great swimming pools as a child as my father was in the forces and despite moving so much that I did 1066 in history about twenty billion times we did always have access to excellent sporting and social facilities. Good luck for tomorrow, you can do it!

I'm a morning person, always up for 6 in the winter.in the summer i get up about 5.
I usually go to bed about 10ish, and read a magazine for an hour.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I set the radio alarm if one of us has to get up at a given time. Even if it's OH who has the early start I nearly always get up before him and make tea. I don't know why I've fallen into this role because we're both owls and hate getting up early.

Otherwise, I get up when I feel like it. Gem - I'll often get up and go to the loo and go back to bed, and back to sleep for at least another hour or so! Eva often comes into our room just before dawn and jumps on the bed but she's perfected the art of not waking us up - good girl.

Interesting how many Grannies use their phones for their alarm. I leave my phone downstairs at night, and it's not nearly loud enough to wake me if I'm properly asleep.
