    Oh I wish....

Have any of you ever had a Peugeot 206 convertible? I've always fancied one but think they've stopped making them.
I came into some money from a not known about pension, lucky me! I'm thinking of doing something frivolous and getting one for over the Summer and for as long as it lasts. They're going for between £700-£1500 and I can get insurance for £150ish.
I've found it very hard to remember what my hopes and dreams ever where, if I had any, even. But this is the one thing that comes to mind. Feeling the wind in my hair as I race along, lol. Oh the FREEDOM! And it could now happen, if I had the nerve. It would be a total waste of money, but what fun!
It's been a long time since I had money of my own and my responsible side says I should put it in the "kitty", where my Hubby's money goes. I've never done anything that is totally for me, well not for 30 odd years. I dare hardly mention it.
I really need to sit in one to see how they feel, in case I don't like it. Has anybody been in one?
The neighbour over the road has one and I'm tempted to pop over and ask them about it, but we're only on nodding and waving terms.

We had a Gold Megan hard top convertible years ago ,I loved it in the summer it was lovely to put the top down but in the winter it started to leak and there was more water in the car than outside , it was a faulty seal so had it fixed , was fine till the next winter then it did the same . after 3 years we parted company but I so loved that car , Go for it you cant take the money with you enjoy it while you can xxx

By order of the authority of GransRus, Granny Jules, I say get one!!
Life is short, none of us know what is around the corner. Something you have wanted for so long and will give you pleasure should be had
Even more so when we are not talking about mega bucks here!

I've found a couple forsale in town, and they seem cheaper for the same age car and mileage than others further away. It must be because we're in a deprived area
I might pop in on my way to Mam's and try one out, very soon.
Just need to mention it to Hubby.
I haven't told him yet that I'm getting a new laptop too. He's got a shock coming, lol.

Grannyjules - what Gem says!!! Get one. As you say, it's sometimes hard to remember what our young dreams were - or even if we had any - so you absolutely HAVE to do this for yourself. Years ago OH and I had this conversation after his mother left him some money. He had always wanted to learn to fly and I persuaded him to spend the money on lessons to get his private pilot's licence. We can't afford for him to continue flying on our pensions, but he's done it and got the log book and the memories! You won't regret it.

I'd say get some expert advice about the Peugeot before you buy one - and I bet your neighbours would be really pleased to pass on their experience with their car. They will be flattered you've asked, so take a deep breath and ask away.

We had a soft top (Spitfire Mark III) for a few years, and I absolutely loved driving it, and was sad to sell it when the children got too big to fit into the dickie seat (no child seats or seatbelts in those days). Even on a cold wet day it would lift my spirits.

By the way, a laptop is an essential these days, not a luxury.

JG if you don't go for it you could well regret missing the chance and forever wonder what it would be like. It's not as if the cash is coming out of the housekeeping.

No it's a windfall from my very first job. I worked for Ross Foods for ten years. I never knew they had started a pension for me. What a lovely man that Mr John Ross was.!

GJ - I'm quite certain Mr John Ross would be cheering you on - it's a perfect way to enjoy a windfall.

Go for it GJ! Ask your neighbours about their experience and, if there are more positives than negatives, go ahead. This is the only life we have so grab the opportunity whilst it's there.
