Wow - you're all very organised. I'm not much of a planner. There are inevitably fixed 'things' in my diary - like the GCs, hairdressers, occasionally lunches etc plus our joint social life, which I mostly organise. But apart from that I just let things happen. OH organises things like the cars, MOTs servicing etc, plus anything on the house like the upcoming alterations. If I try and do it he can't sit back and let me get on with it - he keeps asking have I done this, or that or the other and I end up getting cross, so letting him do those things is much more peaceful. I don't need to know how many screws the builder will use to fix something in place!

But I think I've become this laid back because when I do plan things, they inevitably go wrong or get changed at the last minute.

Because I have a company car the car things are what I don't have to think of but will have to start practicing for when we finally retire. I am getting a new car in June this year (and quite a posh one too) and that will be my last company car before I retire at which point I will have to buy a car, insure and tax it etc. Mind you a few years ago I spent about six months without a valid tax disc because my company sent it to me and I put it somewhere safe and forgot about it! These days of course we don't have discs so that will be another diary date! Do you get a reminder through the post these days?

When we we go on holiday I am extremely organised (except obviously in the security department when husbands wallet went missing! Won't happen again I can tell you.). As soon as it is booked and confirmed it is printed and put in a file and also put in a file on my phone and iPad. Then the ATOL certificate, insurance and any hotel vouchers etc. all go in there as well. We have senior coach cards, our European health cards and a note of husbands medications in there. I also have photocopies of passports. I usually have a little investigate about where to go and restaurants etc if it is a place we haven't been before and trip advisor reviews. Drives husband nuts ........

I will not book a holiday unless I can view it on line, like to see pictures. Since my OH died I have had to deal with car insurance, MOT, servicing, tax etc etc

When it comes to choosing holidays, both me and OH have a look around then I will book it, I do not leave it to him we went to Prague a few years ago, beautiful city, OH booked the room, i didn't check it out when we got there i could have cried i just looked at him and said "tell me this isn't it", yes it was he had went on booking.com and went to the first holiday accommodation done low to high prices and booked the first one, it was shocking, we had to get trains into Prague we were that far away, luckily we were only there 3 nights, i would never let him do it again without me looking first, he has never lived it down and never will

Nan2, I agree best get it done with and not too close to your holiday.

I couldn't operate without lists, and wall calendar, and diaries both actual and on my phone! You should see the lists I am ticking off atm, with lots to sort out before my hols!

So now my appointment is for the day after with another doctor. I could have waited and had it done at the end of March with Mr S,
but i thought that might be too near our holiday.
All change again.Mr S secreaty rang, and said Mr S wants to do the procedure himself. Appointment now 28th March.
We go away the week after, but i think i should be OK.

I like to be organised and know what is happening be it good or bad. I don't like feeling I don't know what's going to happen as much as possible. I also make lists, and write down jobs for the day.Whether I get them done is another matter but there is some satisfaction in crossing them off.

Ah, but you can't cross them off until you've done them, can you??? Having a long list with nothing crossed off would be too depressing.

we once, about 5 years ago made a list of jobs that need doing round the house and stuck it on the fridge. I threw it away a few weeks ago because it was too faded to read! 😦😦😦

Before the kitchen fiasco we had a whole list of what was going to happen. Week one was old kitchen rip out, plastering, new electrics and plumbing (water and gas). Week 2 was kitchen fit (well we all know how well that went don't we?). Week 3 was to have the sitting room ceiling skimmed and the second arch in the sitting room unarched as it were plus walls and ceiling replastered and new electrics. Weeks 4 to 7 were ripping up the old carpets in the bedrooms, getting rid of existing wardrobes in GC bedroom, new wooden floors, decoration and new electrics. In the meantime custom made wardrobe unit in our room. Needless to say nothing but the kitchen has been done. One of the arches in the sitting room is half finished which looks a mess because it isn't finished (but only because I didn't want it finished) I have felt for so long that I never want another workman in my flat. However we have now decided that we will have our March holiday and then get back on track with the timetable. I am working on the ombudsman claim. I hope it is successful. I just know that I still want to cut down my working days in January next year and if we don't sort the flat out now it wont get done in time and we might run out of money so the deadline is November before our big holiday.

So our list has not yet faded and I really do not want it to. We have a garden shed in bits for husband to put together shortly (the old one is only being held up by the rubbish that is in there!) hopefully the damp will not have warped it because if it does I know I will hear lots about it.

You will get it done Zizi, just go and relax and enjoy your March holiday. You will probably feel more like getting the jobs done when you have satisfaction from the ombudsman.

When driving around through the lanes yesterday, I noticed the catkins are showing yellow and the dogwood was flowing in the hedgerows, perhaps Spring has sprung. Haven't seen any lambs yet.
