Before the breathalyser loads of people would drink and drive and think nothing of it. It's hard to believe now, isn't it!

It was the done thing then Daisy, a bit like not wearing a seat belt and sitting in the front with a child on your knee,
Wouldn't dream of it these days,
I remember my DD sitting on Bs knee driving the car.
I shudder to think about it now.

Three armed men raided a Turkish bath in London, but the well heeled customers were wearing very little clothing, and the robbers' total haul was only Β£7.

            1969

Ahead of the complete changeover to decimalization, Britain scrapped the 10 shilling note and introduced the 50 pence coin.

This is interesting! Whenever a quiz questions asks when decimalization came into being I think its 1969, remembering the age I was at the time. But am wrong as it was the early 70s. Now I realise I must have been remembering the arrival of 50 pence!

I remember the 50p coming in as my mother hated them, but I didn't realise it was as early as 1969 I thought it was the 70s

                  2022

At 1:35pm today, Liz Truss resigned as Leader of the Conservative Party and ultimately as Prime Minister. She was appointed as Prime Minister a mere 45 days ago. The PM said that her successor would be elected in a Tory leadership contest, to be completed in the next week. Of those with 'clear terms of office', Liz Truss was the shortest-serving Prime Minister in the UK's history.

                    1854

Florence Nightingale and a staff of 38 women volunteer nurses that she trained, were deployed to the Crimea, where the main British camp was based, fighting in the Crimean War. During her first winter at Scutari, ten times more soldiers died from illnesses such as typhus, typhoid, cholera and dysentery than from battle wounds.
She had the sewers flushed and ventilation improved. Almost six months after her arrival death rates were sharply reduced.

She was an incredibly brave women. Her "radical" ideas weren't welcomed by a lot of people.

I love to see a good orchestra, I've never seen one live but I can imagine the sound is tremendous.

Oma, when I was at school we were regularly taken to see the Halle Orchestra, both in junior and senior school. I always enjoyed it and the acoustics in our local venue were brilliant. I'd love to go to a concert at the Albert Hall sometime. It's on my bucket list.

I think any live music is a great experience, and we used to go regularly to all sorts of concerts.
