A teenager, who thought movement in her underwear was caused by her vibrating mobile phone found a bat curled up asleep in her bra. The battered bodies of Lin Russell, 6 year-old daughter Megan and 9 year old daughter Josie, were found half a mile from their home in Kent. Michael Stone, 38, was later found guilty of two counts of murder (of Lin and Megan) and one count of attempted murder (Josie) and given three life sentences. His original conviction was overturned on appeal but a second trial resulted in another verdict of guilty after another prisoner claimed that Stone had confessed to the killings while on remand in jail.


This terrible story haunted me, and after that I was reluctant to walk anywhere off the beaten track, especially alone or with DD3 who was only 8 at that time.

Gem - it haunted me too. Years later there was a programme about Josie and her Dad. They moved to Wales - Snowdonia area, I think, and were both incredibly brave but it was so sad to watch and think what their lives should have been like.

Puppets Andy Pandy, Teddy and Looby Loo first appeared on BBC TV. The episodes were repeated for more than 25 years, until the film wore out.

We got a tv in about 1952 and I remember Andy Pandy. I was a bit too old to get excited about it though!
