There was a huge outcry about GM seed, wasn't there. Then it all went quiet.

I went as a parent helper with GS2's school on a trip which included visiting Gypsy Moth IV, and I was shocked at how small it was. He was incredibly brave sailing into the unknown in what looked like a very flimsy boat!

Selby Abbey became a 'mitred abbey' one of the most defining honours that could be granted and an honour which it shared in the north with St Mary's Abbey, York. It remained so until the time of the 'dissolution'.

My GS1 lived within 5 minutes walk of Selby Abbey for the first 8 years of his life. As a toddler he always wanted me to take him in there as he knew they sold flapjack bars from a little cafe at the back

I can imagine your GS1 being lured by good flapjack. I'd have been with him.

More of a bargain than they are now, although there was only one channel, tvs themselves were very expensive and there was limited output.

The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place in Westminster Abbey, London. It was the first British coronation to be televised and was a cold, wet day.

We watched it on a tiny 10" TV with our living room crowded with friends. One thing I really remember is a friend of my Mum's saying to her "it's the last Coronation, we'll see". I thought what an odd thing to say, but of course she was right!

There's something rather appropriate about that being the most stolen library book.

Property experts estimated there could be up to 1,000 JCBs buried underground in London, because it is cheaper to bury them than to lift them to street level following basement extensions. The total value of the JCBs buried underground is thought to be around £5 million.
