You did right to tell them the strain it is having on you all Oma.
Our neighbour has carers 4 times a day, but has her OH with her and her DS stays over a few nights a week.
For someone on their own it's not as good. She could fall or need something the moment they have left .

I hope the appointment helps your hands Lizzie.

Sports Day was lovely. It stayed fine and all did well. They are all 3 and 4 year olds.
Little E got a medal, stickers and an ice lolly
I brought him back with me as almost everyone went after the races and I didn't want him left at nursery. I OKed it with DD and SIL..SIL will collect him from here instead of nursery .

Aww I bet he was so proud and can't wait to show Mummy & Daddy ,
I loved sports day , they are all over the place but they try their best don't they ,

I remember joining the mummy and grannies race with Oliver at that age , I was a lot younger and fitter then 😁
How was S after golf today?
Are you away for your birthday ?

        Lizzie
I have arthritis in my fingers , when it flairs up it's so painful even just drying a cup up ,
The thumb is the worst as you don't realise how much you use your thumb untill it's too painful to use.
I hope the physio can help you.

GS popped in today for a cupper and stayed 2 hours ,

Then my new unity for the sitting room came ,
I ordered it from a place called Laura James ,

Oma, S was fine thank you.
She says golf is the only place she doesn't feel in pain now! Probably the activity doing her good and taking her mind off her aches and pains.

Yes, I will be away my birthday this year.

GS loves visiting you doesn't he?

Hello, everyone. I seem to have had a busy day. It's time to pause and breathe!

Nanto, that old treadle sewing machine brings back some memories.

Gem, Well done to little E at his sports day. I remember going to my GDs' nursery sports days and they were always lovely, and the children so excited.

I wonder if it's the activity when S is playing golf that keeps pain at bay. I've noticed that I feel much better when I'm physically active than when I sit and "relax". Everyone tells you to relax and not to overdo things, but I usually feel worse. I agree doing something that takes your mind off your aches and pains helps as well.I hope DD3's treatment went well today.

Oma, what a huge relief that B's appointment with the liver consultant went so well. It sounds as though you need to record your MIL saying she wants to go into a care/nursing home. You, B and your SILs can't go on wearing yourselves out trying to keep her safe, fed and cared for. Oma, your GS must have been enjoying his cuppa - although I think he really just loves your company. Your new unit sounds lovely. Won't you miss the tables?

Lizzie, I hope the hand physio helps. Arthritis in your hands must make sewing impossible. I have DeQuervain's tenosynovitis in my thumbs and when that flares up you suddenly realise how much your use your thumbs!

I had an emergency appointment at the dentist this morning. I chipped a front tooth on Sunday. Our dentist is very good and always keeps emergency appointments available. Tooth looks as good as it ever did now!

I've been trying to get washing done all day, but the weather has been a pain. Beautiful sunshine, then whoosh torrential rain. I ended up drying it in the dryer or on the clothes maid. Then about 6 o'clock the skies cleared and the wind dropped, so I tried to take Eva for a walk. She still won't walk from our house after that thunderstorm, so in the end OH drove us down to a Forest car park, and we walked across the Forest rather than in our road. Even then she hesitated, so I let her off lead. She then had a choice to stay there on her own or follow me! I'm not sure whether she followed me or the treats I had in my hand, but it worked.

OH's car pal is away now for a couple of months, so we've got a free day tomorrow, although I'm sure we'll find plenty to do.

              Morning ladies
              It's overcast again but warm,
I am hoping the boiler man comes this morning after having to cancel last week ,
              Hospital visit today as well.

No won't miss the tables ,
They never got used to be honest , just more to dust.
It looks strange and roomy without the coffee table .
Poor Eva it's really spooked her hasn't it .

                Good morning everyone.

Fingers crossed the boiler man arrives Oma. Overcast here too.

Daisy, poor little Eva. Thank goodness your tooth was quickly repaired.

Aqua, this morning. This afternoon I am having my holiday toenails done. The pink would have probably lasted me another month if I wasn't going away, but I want sparkly new blue for my holiday

Good morning. It keeps changing from sunshine to looking overcast.

Oma, you'll soon get used to the furniture being different.

Daisy, glad the dentist was able to sort your tooth.

I feel like i've done a days work already.
The drawers in the big freezer needed tidying. Then i realised we were a bit low on homemade pies, both fruit and meat.
Anyway, i've made two rhubarb pies and two with red gooseberries.
Hubby wants one of the goosebery pies left out of the freezer.
I could do with making some meat pies sometime this week.

                    Good Wednesday morning, everyone.

Nanto, gooseberry pies sound delicious so no wonder your OH wanted one straight away. Freezers seem to get in a mess overnight. I think there must be a freezer goblin that goes round jumbling everything up.

Oma, has your boiler man turned up? We'd be lost without some little tables in the living room, but at least you won't miss yours and as you say, you'll have more space. I'm always ready for having less to dust. Yes, I hope Eva eventually gets her confidence back to walk to and from the house. She walked back down our cul de sac yesterday with a neighbour's sweet little Cavapoo. I don't think she would have done it without a friend to give her courage, though!

Gem, it wouldn't be "you" if you didn't have sparkly blue toes for your holidays. I bet it puts you in the holiday mood straight away. I hope Aqua was fun (if that's the right word!). Is S looking forward to your holiday as well?

It's a wet and rather dismal day here today - still more like March than June and very windy.

We're waiting for the repair man to come and mend out dishwasher lid. The counter-balance has gone, so if you don't take it gently to the ground it just crashes down. It's surprisingly heavy as well. DS2 had a dishwasher stored in his garage from their previous house. They had hardly used it, but it wouldn't fit in their current kitchen, so he gave it to us to replace ours. When it came to installing it, there were problems, and some important bits had rusted. It was going to cost more to repair that than mend the door on our trusty 17-year old Bosch.

No the boiler man didn't turn up again,
This is two weeks running ,
I rang them and spoke to a nice lady who was very apologetic,
Assured us he will definitely be with us on Monday ,

I said if he doesn't turn up then we will go elsewhere, two mornings wasted.
Poor Eva but at least with a friend she did it , brave girl 😁

Sometimes it's easier to stick with what you have and try to get it fixed Daisy or buy a new dishwasher.

Went to see MIL it looks like she is going home , she is taking no notice of any of us and when we try to speak to her about it she turns her head away , so what can we do,

Can't remember the sils and the social worker being in ,
The occupational therapist was in this morning, had her making toast and a cup of tea , couldn't remember that ,
Then said she had no breakfast again , so when the nurse came in to do her obs I asked and she said yes you have Ursula,
Can you remember you had corn flakes first and you said they were cheap rubbish ,

Adamant she didn't have any 🙄
And this is a person who wants to go home.

It's a funny day , warm one minute windy and cold the next ,

B just been down to my elderly neighbour,
She rang could he go down she couldn't get her heating on again.
He sorted it for her and showed her how to put her water heater on if she needed extra water,

Robert used to do all them things , now he is in a home she has to do them herself.

Glad Eva was better when she had a friend with her.

Oma. MIL is beyond help sometimes.
A shame the boiler man didn't arrive again.
