    Good morning, drizzling here.

    Gem, hope DD is ok.

No plans for us today, but sometimes things change.

Oma, glad Dorothy isn't too bad.
    How is DD.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Good morning Nan2, good morning everyone else.

SIL arrived back around midnight, no results being back.
DD was discharged with blood thinners after 1. She came back by taxi. They suspect a blood clot and she has go back this morning for a scan. No infection showed in the results so not cellulitis.

No idea what today holds for me, as it depends what support they need.
I had to feed the pets at DD1's last night and this morning so will be popping over there at some point.
Possibly golf for OH if enough people are signed up.

        Morning ladies

        Nanto
Never say no plans , you can guarantee something will happen 😁
DD is feeling rough , she slept most of yesterday, both her dad myself and SIL tried to persuade her not to work today ,
I think working at home she thinks she should make an effort 🙄

        Gem
Your poor DD if it is a DVT at least she's on the blood thinners,
It won't be helping her anxiety at all, no matter how much you try to calm her if she has these health anxieties only a Dr can convince her she's ok,
Fingers crossed she's feeling better about it today.

We have to go to MILs this morning, she wants to go shopping but it's very cold and icy,
I rang last night and said I will get some stuff for her and if it's better on Saturday we will take her then,

Oma, much better for your MIL to stay in in this weather. You can do without being responsible for her on the ice!

DD and SIL 3 have gone off to the hospital.
OH has dentist and golf, little E and I will keep ourselves occupied!

            Good Thursday morning, everyone.

Gem, I'm so sorry our posts crossed last night, and I've only just seen yours. Your poor DD3, she must have been worried sick. At least cellulitis has been ruled out, but she must have been in a lot of pain. I hope the scan shows what the problem is so treatment can start straight away. I'm quite sure little E is delighted to have a sleepover at Grandma's, so that's one less worry for DD3 and SIL. Fingers crossed it's something that can be easily treated.

Nanto, I wonder if your day is going to plan - or should I say, no plan!

Oma, your DD really does need to rest. I think you might have to go over there and confiscate her phone and computer. It would be really dangerous for your MIL to be out in this weather - and for you and B helping her as well. I hope she's happy with the shopping you do.

It's dull and wet here today, but it's 6C and feels almost warm. Today's the first day OH has seemed more like his old self. I hope it's the start of him getting his energy back.

No plans for us. I should have gone to meet College friends for lunch, but I've cried off. I hope by next month the weather will be a bit kinder and I'll feel like socialising.

I will begin a separate thread about DD3 when I have time.
She has a massive DVT in her leg. She is on blood thinners and will have a chest x ray. Not sure what else but she may be there all day.
Anyone a less likely candidate for a DVT is hard to imagine. Very slim, none smoker, very healthy diet, active, not flown for over two years.

SIL is planning to collect little E late afternoon. He had a happy morning bath, came with me to feed his cousins pets and we have been to the library. We are planning to stay warm this afternoon.

A shame to miss the lunch Daisy, but as you say there will be other opportunities when your weather is better.
Good news that OH is on the mend.

Daisy, I am pleased to hear your OH is feeling he is on the mend. Shame about the meet your friends for lunch but the weather atm is so changeable.

Oma, I hope your DD is on the mend soon. I hope Mil will agree not to go out if the weather is not good. I think we are forecasted more snow.

Gemini, what a worry for you, I do hope the medical problem with DD3 is not too serious and is sorted soon.

Well MIL was determined she was going shopping ,

There are three flights of steps up to her front door ,

B had to go out and clear as much ice as he could but it was rock solid,
He sprinkled salt over it hoping some would melt before we got back , it didn't ,

So I walked ahead of her and B hung onto the back of her coat and she hung onto the hand rail to get her down,
Then the same to get her back up.

We were mentally exhausted by the time we come home ,
I made her take a throw for her legs, it kept slipping off so I tucked it in she didn't like it but it kept it in place,

Then her hands were cold so I put my gloves on her,
She kept getting two fingers in one ,
At the finish I had to guide her fingers in each hole,
It was like dressing a child🙄

Came back I made her lunch and a cup of coffee ,
B made her bed then I did the dishes before we left.

                  Gem
Poor DD but it's found quickly thankfully, I hope the chest x-ray is clear ,
I am sure little E is having a lovely time with Grandma 😁

                  Daisy
Good to hear J is on the mend , hopefully he feels the same tomorrow.
Fingers crossed next month you will feel more up to meeting your friends and the weather is more favourable.

Oma, I went out yesterday after many days and we didn’t have much snow but it was very icy. I don’t take risks now.

Gem, I'm. sure little E has had a delightful day. I'll respond to your news about DD3 on the thread (that's not try ing to put you under pressure to start it, it's just that comments can so easily get lost on Chat. )

Oma, what a nightmare helping MIL up and down her steps in this weather. Is it possible for her to have a ramp/pathway installed? Or even two handrails? Did she go down the steps backwards? That might be safer for her - and you and B. It's hard to keep someone warm when they're relatively immobile, and possibly got poor circulation. You and B did very well, but it's a lot of you both to cope with. How is your DD today?

Plant, I don't blame you being careful. The last thing any of us need is a broken bone.

I've had a fairly productive day, and the ironing pile has shrunk to just a few items. Then I did two loads of washing. Silly me! I've been trying to bring some extra variety into our meals this last week or so - we'd got into a bit of a rut when neither of us felt like spending time in the kitchen. Last night's cottage pie wasn't anything special, but it's ages since I'd made one. Tonight I'm making a bacon, tomato and spinach quiche. The pastry's made and I've grilled the bacon ready. Anything for a change!

Oma, good heavens Oma. Apart from the risk to herself, MIL is putting you two at risk.

A change is a good idea with meals Daisy. I think most of us get into cooking rut!

DD3's chest x ray was clear thank goodness. She was discharged once the results came back.
She has a liver scan next week. They came back here had a cuppa mid afternoon then left with little E. She is exhausted, naturally, and quite tearful.
She wants to come here for the weekend to be looked after so SIL will be at home with little E.

I will start the thread when OH is cooking our dinner

                          Daisy
The way her garden is it's too steep for a ramp and the path is shared with next door so another handrail isn't possible ,
We also have to carry her wheelchair up and down,
We just used Morrisons wheelchair today though , I didn't want to be going up and down with hers.

DD still feeling unwell, hopefully it doesn't last long.

No matter how old our girls get they still need Mum to look after them.
Good news the chest x-ray was clear, one less thing to worry about ,
Poor girl I bet she falls into bed tonight .

Stubborn MIL wanting to go out.

Its snowing here. I've never heard as much hype about a storm coming, as the impending storm Goretti.

Daisy, pleased OH seems to have turned a corner. Hope it continues.

Our no plans day didn't get changed.

Nanto, it's unusual for your original plans not to get changed by unexpected visitors. Perhaps the weather is keeping people indoors - and I don't blame them. I hope you don't get snowed in.

Oma, oh dear. It sounds as though there's no easy answer to the steps at your MILs, but it's a lot for you and B to cope with, especially in bad weather. Is the handrail wood or metal? Just thinking if it's metal it could also be slippy when it's wet, and very cold in the frost. I feel there must be something that could help - non-slip matting or coating on the treads? Clear banding at the edge of the steps to help her see where her feet are going? It sounds so dangerous for all 3 of you. Your poor DD. She needs to rest and get better. Hopefully the week-end will give her chance to stay in bed a bit.

Gem, the quiche wasn't bad. It wouldn't win any prizes, but OH enjoyed it, and it made a change. I'd rather have quiche cold, and there's a bit left over for tomorrow. I also made a few mince pies, and there was just enough pastry to finish off a jar of mincemeat. I usually get left with too much to throw away, and it ends up taking up space in the fridge.

It will do your DD good to be pampered a bit and rest. Apart from anything else, she has probably had very little sleep.

I got soaked taking Eva for a walk this afternoon. The rain wasn't too bad when we set out, but then it got really heavy. Eva was ok - her fleece coat kept her mostly dry, but I was soaked through. I know lots of people whose dogs won't step a paw outside if it's raining. Eva doesn't seem to mind at all provided it's a walk and not just going in the garden.

Good morning, Oma, I certainly would have told your MIL that taking her out in the cold was a "no go"!!!

We have rain at the moment so it is very dangerous on top of the snow.

I had an unexpected visitor yesterday afternoon, GD2 walked here to visit me! She said the roads and paths in their village are clear, then she hit our village. I have read of a lot of people saying the same thing. She was going back home on the metro.

She was telling me that she has been accepted at the college, now she has to pass her school exams in May.

Oma. I hope that your DD is soon feeling better.
