Its looking dismal out there this morning but I am going out for breakfast with my lovely daughter to a very nice restaurant locally,her friend won the breakfasts on a facebook competition and has gifted it to my Angie and myself what a lovely gesture,we are then going down to the River front to watch the aircraft carrier The Prince of Wales come up the River Mersey she is on a week long stay in Liverpool so lots of celebrations going on to welcome local crew back home.

Glamm - what a lovely kind friend of your DD's. Have a great time. I can imagine the excitement with The Prince of Wales in the Mersey. There were huge celebrations in Portsmouth when it was commissioned at the end of last year. I saw a programme about it fairly recently and it's incredible.

I've just looked it up - the flight deck is the size of three football pitches.

It's amazing that a ship that size has a shallow enough draft to get up the river. Some of the huge container ships that come into Southampton docks actually churn mud up off the bottom of the Solent at high tide.
