Gem - I read P&P when I was 11 and enjoyed it! But couldn't get into Emma at all when I tried relatively recently. So perhaps it is an age thing. I know Jane Austen wasn't writing for children, but as a teenager all the relationships (or non-relationships) are interesting. Now, in my 70s, I just want to say "grow up and stop being so silly"!!!

Good for you, though, for persevering!

I read David Copperfield when I was at school, but am ashamed to say, I can't remember much about the story now!

I have only seen the film, the story sticks in my mind still.

I'm a little ahead of my one classic a month, as I read two this month.

Rebecca, Wuthering Heights, Oliver Twist and Pride and Prejudice read.

When I finish the book I am currently reading I will start The Catcher in The Rye.

Oma - it's like that sometimes, and you have been reading a lot lately. I'm sure you will come back to it, or perhaps read something completely different next. x

I decided to read Anne of Green Gables next. I am halfway through and enjoying it

The book I had previously read had hardly a likable character in it, and the book before wasn't a lot better, so I wanted some nice characters and fairly lighthearted story, which I'm not sure I will get from Catcher in The Rye!

I have vague memories of enjoying Anne of Green Gables. You're really making me think I need to reread so much of what I know I've read but can't remember very well, Gem.
