    Eurovision Song Contest

I'm not a fan of this event, and think the music is often rubbish, or at least unappealing. But I have to admit it's a colossal event to stage and it all seems to work seamlessly. So it was interesting to read this behind the scenes description of how it all happens. It's the same in a theatre production - I love trying to work out how set changes just "happen".

Find out how Eurovision gets one act off the stage and another one in place in under a minute.

We never watch it these days , it all seems rigged with the voting ,
I have heard a few of the offerings , can't say I'm impressed.
Though as you say Daisy that's some colossal event.

Oma, sometimes it looks as though it's come from an alien planet. We never watch it these days.

As a teenager I loved this! I would get the pull out supplement with score sheet from that night's evening press and give every country my score

I haven't watched for many years. I am aware of our entry for this year, but usually I have no idea

Daisy, regarding theatre sets, when a show has it's final night it is Get Out night when everything has to be dismantled after the performance, and loaded onto lorries to travel elsewhere. I never expected my then OH back until well in the early hours on those nights.

I can imagine how hectic that would be, Gem. When we had a backstage tour of our lovely local theatre, they were saying that the biggest stage set they ever had was for the Lion King. It's an old building, but they had to take just one brick out of a doorway to get all the sets in.

Plant, I agree - and so do lots of other people. Perhaps it's just our age, but I don't think so! It's a song contest (I thought) and the staging, props and complicated musical effects detract from what might be a good song.
