    Anyone still buy Compact discs?

Just wondering if anyone still buys cds. My daughter downloads her music to her various devices but I still buy cds as I like to physically hold a copy of the music I’ve bought. I also enjoy reading the information about the musicians etc and looking at the art work. My CD player is my favourite piece of equipment. Am I old fashioned and behind the times?

I can't remember the last time I bought a CD! When I worked in a charity shop, over 10 years ago, a man came in with his complete collection on CD's. He said he had them all in the "cloud" so no need to save them all, I thought at the time, 'what a strange thing to do"! Now everyone does it. In the opposite direction to that both my sons have vinyl collections, DS2 has a wall cupboard with his vinyl, I still play mine though when I feel like it.

Isnt it strange how life moves on and you dont think about such things ,
Mind you Vinyl records are making a come back big time i know several people who have bought record players ,
My Nephew has a huge selection of Records but he's been a DJ for many years in a northern soul club .

And that’s just the half if it! OH is fanatical about his sound system and CDs have to played through it. He’s got a heap of vinyl too!

Sum - that's an impressive collection indeed, and it sounds as though your OH derives a lot of pleasure from playing it.

I've never bought a lot of music, but I still have all of it - everything from sheet music to CDs, including vinyl and tapes! I used to use CDs in the car a lot, but my current car doesn't have a CD player. I also started to put my collection on the Cloud, but half way through OH kindly tidied up the two untidy piles and filed them in alphabetical order. Trying to sort out which I've copied and which I've not isn't a job I relish!

Mostly I play music when I'm using the computer, so I use YouTube a lot.

I have only ever bought cd's for presents. Never bought any for myself.
Hubby used to buy quite a few,but he hasn't bothered for years.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Lizzie - that is a proper library of vinyl! How many records has he got?

I haven't got many but I've got a few 78s pre-vinyl ones (shellac or something?) and some unusual ones, like the yellow Yellow Brick Road album and a pink Elvis one.

My DIL2's father loves music and plays CDs all the time. They fill every nook and cranny in his house.

Sum and Lizzie I love the pics of the collections - amazing. I’ve got vinyl as well but mostly singles as we have a juke box. But I do have a few LPs. Oma what club does your nephew DJ in?
Daisy I love UTube as well - listen on my ipad.

Fairyqueen, I love You Tube as well, but, get carried away with it! Start to watch something then just carry on from there.

I used to buy them many moons ago. I then I got an ipod and downloaded music. For some reason I never buy any form of music now!
I do sometimes listen to CDs in the car, but don't buy any.

Lizzie and Sum1, they look look my SIL2's collection!

FairyQueen - a juke box!!! Is it a traditional 50s American style one? If I had anywhere to put it I'd love one! In my teens I used to buy singles off the market where we lived - ex juke box ones with no middles in. You had to put plastic centres in to play them on a record player! I've still got some.

Daisy, we used to buy those singles where you had to put a centre in to play them!
