    The Proms

    Not what we usually expect at the Proms, and I wonder how some traditional Prom fans felt about it!

    I have to confess I hadn't even heard of Jacob Collier.

    Since becoming an online sensation with his one-man, multi-tracked arrangements of songs such as ‘Don’t You Worry ’Bout a Thing’ and ‘Fascinating Rhythm’, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier has been forging a lightning-quick path through the musical world. Last year, aged 22, he picked up two Grammy Awards for his debut album In My Room. Having made a guest appearance at the Quincy Jones Prom in 2016, Collier once again teams up with conductor Jules Buckley and his Metropole Orkest in a special collaboration for the Proms, featuring a host of new tracks and a smattering of special guests.           More like a pop concert. Even if he is considered very talented I’m not sure the Proms is the right place to showcase this musical style.

              Ladies - I agree. I don't think he had a great voice, and I know things have to change and develop, but this isn't the type of music I'd look for at the Proms - more a smoky basement in a Jazz cellar!

              On the other hand, Plant's pianists playing 2 pianos sounds lovely - I'm trying to find a link.
