Even in the present crisis, I don't think we'll ever be called on to be as brave as the WW2 generation.
I think the biggest tribute we could pay to them is to rename VE Day as Peace in Europe Day. Their victory is our peace, and I think that would be a lasting tribute to their sacrifices.

We aren't doing anything special, think it would have been very different if the circumstances were back to normal.
DD has sent me some pictures of GS's making bunting for the garden and she is planning to have tea in the garden.
We will definitely watch the celebrations on TV tonight and perhaps shed a tear or two .Bring me sunshine in your smile.

We have had a street party. All proper social distancing. We bought out tables and chairs, cakes, and drinks (everyone brought their own) and it was a glorious sunny afternoon. We were quite glad of the shade under the horse chestnut tree. Most families joined in, and there are only 11 houses, including one empty. We took Eva with us on a long lead and the golden retriever across the road was there too - they were able to say hello to each other safely!
We're shattered now though - a couple of hours with people, chatting, plus the sun and we're tired! We're going to sing "We'll Meet Again" after the Queen's speech then that's it until next Thursday.

Oma - how lovely the dogs joined in and didn't have to worry about social distancing (thank goodness!) That handsome young man of yours is looking so grown up (J, not B, although B can share the compliment with pleasure. xx )
I bet Storm enjoyed seeing Piper - what a gorgeous pair they are! Eva met a neighbour's Goldie for the first time - Molly. And Cooper was also at their street party and had a great afternoon with another Goldie in their close. In fact he wagged his tail so much it isn't working today! Poor Coops.
