Do you fancy a day trip to the Shetland Islands?

It seems today there is a solar eclipse. The moon moves across the face of the sun but doesn't totally block out the light.

Apparently the best place to see it is in the Arctic, but that's a bit far to travel in a day! The best places in the UK appear to be Lerwick in the Shetland Isles and Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis - about 11.20 - 11.30 this morning. In London about 20% of the sun will be covered around 11.15 am.

The chances of seeing anything at all here on the south coast are nil - thick cloud and drizzle for us!

Well I think it's been and gone here! Very cloudy earlier but now the sun has broken through and it's quite muggy!

WeeGranny - we've now had a glimpse of the sun, but it was definitely clouds obscuring it, not the moon!

Yesterday was a day of sun and cloud.
I forgot all about the eclipse, so don't know if anything could be seen here.

GS1 was very keen I see this, as it was my birthday! I didn't notice it at all!

I do not think it was visible here. I would like a trip to the Shetland Isle though

WeeGranny - and there I thought the attraction would be the annular eclipse, but Dougie whatsisname sounds a more interesting attraction.
