Thank you Gem. It now gets worse. We have had emails and text messages saying we hope everything is working well and we're happy with our shiny new broadband. This would be the BB we can't flippin' well get as they still haven't delivered the router etc. It would be a sick joke for any company to reach this level of incompetence, but this is a COMMUNICATIONS company!!

Good heavens Daisy, what a carry on. I can well imagine your frustration. Well done to Eva for being so good during the stampeds.

I didn't think it could get any worse, but it can, and it did!

This morning the engineer phoned to say he was a bit late but would be with us in 15 minutes. He wasn't due until late this afternoon, because we were hoping that the router would arrive via Royal Mail at lunch-time. So OH cancelled the appointment - no point in dragging the poor bloke here for nothing. We're going to put the Customer Service number on speed dial!! I had a very long conversation with yet another lady there, who tried to unravel all the problems. By then we were fairly confident the router would arrive this lunch-time as it was showing on the tracker. So she rebooked the engineer for Monday afternoon, but said they wouldn't be able to do the digital phones because it was ported for the original date in March. We're slightly worried that having cancelled our current provider as from next Tuesday we could be without a phone service and likely to lose our number!

Then in the afternoon OH got an email saying the two digital phones would be delivered on some random date, but we'd ordered 3 phones to replace the ones we currently have. Another phone call - apparently they only provide 2 and we have to pay for the third. Then, even worse, the agent said our BB was 'complete'. She really insisted it was and OH said, no, he was standing in front of the little white box with it's green lights and explained the problems with the late arrival of the modem and that it definitely wasn't 'complete'!! Adding another whole level of incompetence she said the engineer booked for Monday was coming to install the TV gubbins, not the router. He wasn't trained to do that. OH was a very unhappy bunny by then and said he'd had enough, and we were going to cancel the contract. Suddenly, it seems we can have as many phones as we like, and if we move the engineer to Wednesday afternoon they will make sure we've got the TV thingy and the phones by then - it might be 2, 3 or 5 phones!!

            I poured the wine.

You and OH should be sueing them for damages to your health and wellbeing Daisy!!

Gem, I'm currently not sure whether we have two or three open complaints! It's completely taken over our lives, especially this week.

OH has reread the original contract and it was 3 phones we were promised in the package.

Daisy, what a shambles, you are making me feel we have got this to go through, so far we only have the cable up the track. A man turned up this week to fit something (I don’t understand Sil is dealing with it) and the part he needed wasn’t here. They don’t have a landline next door but I have. I know he is fighting for 3 boosters but they are going to send them one at a time! I am getting concerned that my signal will not be as good as I have now.

Plant, it's truly a minefield! Will your landline be changed for a digital phone working via your internet connection? If so you might want to check that you can keep your existing landline line number (if that's what you want/need). I've been told that eventually copper connections (to landlines) will be discontinued and you will only have your mobile but you can have a digital phone as well that works like a landline to use but operates over the network. We've opted to have a 'landline' digital phone because we want to retain our phone number, OH hates using his mobile and sometimes we have no signal, although I think we can use personal hotspots (whatever they are).

Oh dear, my Sil might not have looked into that because they don’t have a landline but I would like to keep mine as so many of my friends do not have mobiles. I will ask him when the Rugby is finished!

Plant, it's not strictly speaking a land line as we've always known it. It's a way of using your broadband - called Voice Over Internet Protocol or VOIP - but it looks and feels like a landline and you have a 'landline number' - hopefully the one you have at present.
