An eventful first night with my little man,he is certainly a night stalker he came wide awake about 11pm and was on the prowl all over the place until about 1am he then collapsed on my pillow right up next to me and I had the loudest purring in my ear all night can I ask anyone is it done to put a cat in a small crate during the night as you would a puppy or is it not a done thing.?

How long for Glam and why? How small is the crate? If it is designed for a kitten it might be okay for limited time but the dog ones have wider mesh and even chunky kittens have been known to get their heads through. A large kittening pen with a litter tray, dry food and water and some toys can be okay but not for long periods. You could confine him to one room of course.

Glamma, I think he will soon settle down. On the first night I had my 2 kittens (now ladies of 17!) One of them climbed all the way upstairs and settled on my pillow. I gently took her back down to her sister. It only went on for a couple of nights.
As BL says, putting him in one room for the night would be an option.

Oh yes lots of people will confine a new kitten to one smallish room with some dry food/water a comfortable place to sleep and some toys. He will run around and play in the night but cannot disturbs other than a bit of noise.
He might scratch the door in protest, he might even meow loudly, but he will be fine as long as the room is safe and secure and he is not hungry and bored. As he came from a home I suppose he may have been allowed to sleep on beds before. Either that or he is a quick learner

Glam - he's beautiful - I love his little face. It looks as though he's smiling. I don't know about cats, but he seems quite confident and I imagine he's just exploring the options. Thanks for the gorgeous photos.

Aah. He is a little sweetie isn't he? I remember when I got my last kittens, one of which was Geirge my last cat. They were monsters in the night. We had three older cats and all we could hear was Marms the big ginger one spitting and hissing at them. I did go down several times to make sure they were not being bullied but I think it was the other way around. Grumpy Marms was on his cushion and the two kittens were jumping all over him and he just kept putting his head up and hissing at them, not a raised paw in sight. Come Christmas the tree ended up on the floor more than once and one time we lost Gracie who was the tiniest cat you would ever have seen, we found her in the Christmas tree, asleep!

I still want another cat but we would probably get an older one from a rescue place. I have to persuade HIM first.

Oh I forgot to say your cushions are the same as mine - I have the curtains too, in my sitting room.

I don't remember blue curtains but I know that we do not have Dunelms around here, I may have ordered them on line. My current curtains are cream and sort of dark toffee and I bought bedding that went with them too but I have gone off the bedding but still like the curtains. I am very fickle.......
