Another neighbour’s dog can bark really loudly with a soft toy in his mouth. He always barks when anyone passes his gate and I always wonder how he manages to make such a loud noise with his cuddly tiger in his mouth.

Cooper can do that, too, Clover. He has a 'greeting toy' which he's given when someone comes to the door because he always likes to greet people with a toy in his mouth and when it's a hard, sharp lump of, say, antler, it can hurt! Currently the GT is a big fat soft sausage!

Today was the monthly outdoor dog training session, which we call Roundy Roundy because you walk round and round! It's held in a fenced all-weather sports pitch, right next to a children's playground.

Some months ago we had a nasty incident with a crowd of yobs climbing over the fence and terrifying some of the dogs, including Eva who as luck would have it was the closest to the disturbance. Ever since she's struggled to cope with the session, but gradually she's gained confidence again.

Today she lasted nearly the whole 2 hours - I took her out a bit early because we could see she was tired and didn't want to push her too hard. I was so pleased to see her walking on a loose lead nearly the whole time, despite two new dogs causing a bit of disruption. She mostly ignored them and at one point we walked with another lady walking her 3 dogs, one of whom is dog aggressive, and us two 'doggy mums' were able to enjoy a chat as well!

It's nice when you feel there's a bit of progress.

Oma - I'm sure Storm and Daisy would love each other. She plays really well with Cooper in the house and like Storm he's very respectful round other dogs. It seems to be when she's outside she loses all her marbles and just acts like an idiot. She's starting to learn that some dogs don't want her playful intentions, but it's a slow process.

Nana - you're welcome to join us anytime!

Poor Eva ,having that incident with the yobs. No wonder it put her off. I think you’re amazing to keep persevering but what else can you do when all you want is the best for her? She sounds such a sweet dog.

Gem - Now that would be good - give the yobs a good drenching. Unfortunately we really just needed to keep things as calm as possible for some very vulnerable dogs, and Pam, the trainer did a really good job of getting them out. The following 2 months the police came and patrolled.

What the yobs didn't realise that if any of the people-reactive dogs had broken away from their owners they could have been hurt. Unfortunately, the dogs then get blamed, not the idiots who climbed an 8' fence!

Clover - she is a sweet and affectionate dog. She's so gentle and friendly, but the more we work with her the more we realise she probably wasn't socialised outside or around other dogs when she was a puppy.
