Eva's paws repaired themselves quite quickly, thank goodness and she's been back to her usual bouncy self for a while.
Training class today was "interesting". Quite often if someone can't make one of the other classes they come to the Wednesday afternoon one which Eva and I go to. So most weeks there is a "strange" dog, or more, to entertain us. Today's was a very feisty little girl - pretty as a picture but not too keen on all the 'strangers' in 'her' class! Two of the regulars both had a noisy confrontation with her but Eva kept her cool. She was quite worried but she's found sitting firmly on my feet offers bullet-proof protection!! This is such a huge improvement from the time when she would have been in the thick of it. She's learnt she gets lots of extra treats for staying close to me! I was very proud of her that she was the only dog in the room today who was 'safe' enough to do a full circuit off lead. And, she's finally getting the hang of skate boarding!
Then we played a game which involved weaving in and out of poles in a figure of 8 sequence. She was great, but mum (me) got into a terrible mess and we all ended up in fits of laughter.

Today, Eva had a melt-down in the paddock. As I mentioned on the Daily Drop In, we had taken her and Cooper for a run.
OH got there first with Eva so she had been running round on her own, then I arrived with Cooper. They were both as excited as small children on Christmas morning, and Eva started barking as she chased Coops round. It was very noisy with tree surgeons working on the other side of the narrow lane, and OH was more interested in watching them than keeping the dogs walking round. Then the owner of the paddock came in - he's a lovely man but very slight and I worry that Cooper, whose brakes aren't very good, could knock him over. So I slipped both dogs on their leads and they stood quietly while we all chatted. Then when we let them off again, Eva was besides herself with excitement, over-stimulation, whatever. Poor Cooper had his tail between his legs and was trying to get away from her. She was deaf to us calling her and ignored the whistle, so that was it. She was banished back home and I stayed on a bit longer to exercise Cooper.
So much for a quiet, pleasant walk!

Oma - that is it exactly, but I'm cross I didn't anticipate the situation and stop her before she reached the "totally out of it" stage.

They say dogs can't talk, but they can certainly communicate in other ways!
This morning I woke up a bit too early to get up, went to the bathroom and then back to bed. Eva snuggled down between me and OH, facing me. I'd disturbed OH's sleep and he was half dozing, half awake and kept doing little snores. Eva obviously thought everyone should go back to sleep! She gave me a Paddington-like 'hard stare' turned her head round and licked OH's chin to stop him making a noise, and turned back, closing her eyes. She repeated this every time OH disturbed her, and the hard stares got more pointed each time, clearly saying "can't you stop him waking me up"!!
(We do let Eva on the bed, although she mostly sleeps on the floor. She very rarely wakes us up - she climbs up very gently and gets off the bed sliding like a snake.)

Daisy, I agree that dogs can talk! Doggo certainly lets me know what he wants even changing the tone of his voice. He doesn't do it with his family which I find interesting. He and I can hold quite a conversation until we get told off! Not quite so funny when I'm woken at some unearthly hour of the morning to let him out and he sits and stares at the moon!
Loving the vision of Eva licking J's chin to get him to stop snoring!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

WeeGranny - Doggo must have a special relationship with you, and knows you understand him. Eva isn't very vocal - it's her expressions and body language, but Cooper all buts talks! I agree, watching the moon at some unearthly hour on a cold winter's night isn't my idea of fun either! The anti-snore licks were very effective!
