An anxious week in the Daisy clan

Well after a worrying week-end, DS2's vet rang tonight to say that their doggy's liver is fine. They took 4 lots of tissue samples and there isn't a bad cell among them! The suspicious area on his liver seems to be just 'one of those things' and has no medical implications for the time being. So it looks as though he is going to have the tooth with the abscess removed on Friday. Very relieved and pleased.

My OH is making a steady recover from his man flu, thank goodness!

We do hope so, Gemini. GS2's dog still has to have a general on Friday for his dental work, but we're hoping he'll be ok!

Clyde has spent the morning at the groomers and is looking very dapper and smart. He's also shattered and is sleeping it off at my feet while I'm on here. Tomorrow he's got a date with the ophthalmologist to check his eyes.

Update on Clyde: He had the scheduled check up today with the ophthalmologist and the pressure in both eyes was 17, which is good, so we've just got to continue with the regular drops in both eyes and another type of drops in his left eye to keep the pressure down. Unless we're worried she doesn't need to see him again until January. So another small anxiety we can cross off the list. Fingers crossed that next week's blood sugar tests are also good!

That's good news Daisy, our pets can be a worry can't they and as they can't tell us how they feel it's a bit of a guessing game.
How is OHs "man flu" ?

Mimi - thank you for asking. OH is feeling much better and did a fantastic weeding job on the allotment yesterday. I was worn out and he was still beavering away like the Duracell bunny. Ummm, interesting mixed metaphor - beavers and bunnies!!!

It's been vet day in Clan Daisy today!

We took Clyde for a check up this afternoon and his blod sugar's down to 5.5 - excellent! And we are trying him on some antioxident tablets for a month which might help with his vagueness, staring into space etc. If they work, I've asked the vet if I can have some, too!!!

DS2's doggy recovered very well from his op last Friday, and actually the tooth didn't need removing - he just had scale and polish. He went back for a check up tonight and they think his liver is ok, and the abnormal results were due to the infection. He's got to go back for another check up in 8-12 weeks.

So, a reasonably clean bill of health for our fur babies. Long may it last.

                            Well done doggies

Vet day for us today. Our long haired cat needs her matts sorted out. As long haired cats get older and cant reach round as well they often get knots and matts in harder to reach areas. DD2s cat has the same problem. It is her tummy area and flank. We have to have it sorted out at the vets when it gets bad, the last time was a couple of years ago. I can't do it myself as she gives me warning bites and scratches! They managed it without sedation last time, heaven knows how! We had to starve her since 10pm yesterday in case sedation is used today. All 3 cats think we have taken leave of our senses as none of them can have breakfast until we take Knotty One to the vet!

Glad to know all is looking well for your dogs Daisy. We are considering finally getting a dog, (and possibly a cat too) now that I've finished work and OH is semi-retired. We always said we would once we had more time for pets. I feel I "need" a dog, (whatever that might mean psychologically) even if by reading Daisy's post I realise he'll be another lovable source of anxiety and worry...

Skye - for me whatever is going on in my life my dog is a constant source of fun, joy and uncritical companionship. I've long ago accepted that a dog has a fairly well-defined life span and painful as it is when the end comes, I always want another dog to share my life with. So, yes, I also 'need' a dog (or dogs!) They give me so much more than I could ever give them. Looking ahead, we obviously don't know how long we will have Clyde in our lives, but at 72 I don't think I should take on another puppy, but there are thousands of rescue dogs who need loving homes ....

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Gemini - I hope she doesn't need sedation, but having once tried to remove a tick from a docile cat I have to say I admire the vets/nurses who can do this kind of treatment! The cat I was deticking was docile - but her 'sister' attacked me ferociously!! LOL
