BL - thank you. I do hope you're right. When we had to take that decision for Rusty some months ago it was clear cut - he had renal failure and there was no prospect of recovery. We said our farewells in good time. Clyde's health isn't great (he's diabetic, asthmatic, has poor vision and has lost a lot of muscle tone) but he loves his food, loves a cuddle, greets us joyfully when we've been out and enjoys a 2-3 km walk. I don't know how long he's got, we just try and enjoy every day we have him.
It must seem so strange when you have always had pets in your life, and I would be the same. I couldn't have faced moving bowls, etc yesterday either - in fact I left Rusty's food bowl down until Clyde stopped checking it out. Silly, I know, but ...

BL, I am so sad for you . He was a beautiful dog. Those of us who have been through this know how you feel. You know you have done the very best for him, throughout his life, and right to the end. That doesn't stop the pain and the missing though.
Thinking of you, sending hugs, and hoping you can soon put the happy memories of Indie to the forefront xxx“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
