My OH and her friend spotted a hedgehog in our garden feeding station this afternoon. It is a bad sign to be out during the day and it didn't look well. OH phoned the hedgehog lady and she was in so they took the hedgehog over. A female, very small, very cold.
She was given intravenous fluids to hydrate her and of course warmed up, and was given antibiotics.
She messaged OH later to say she had found a large weeping abscess on the hedgehogs tummy, so she will need different antibiotics from the vet tomorrow. This one was named Judith, after another golf friend who had donated £10 to the hedgehogs.
We hope Judith fares better than poor little Andrew who OH took in a few weeks ago, and had to be put down a few days later.
