Gem’s goose on the roof story reminded me about some gulls on our roof.
For some years now seagulls have made a nest hehind our neighbours’ chimney stack. Our neighbours finally got so fed up with it they had the stack removed and now have a clear roof. However we have a vent on our roof and guess what, the silly seagulls are nesting behind it.
It can only be about 12 inches in diameter and the straw from the nest(gathered from another neighbours’ chicken run) is sticking out both sides. When we had the gale at the weekend all the straw landed on my back garden.Undeterred the birds have built again. I don’t mind really but the only problem that can arise is if a flightless chick falls off the roof
.This has happened a couple of times in the past and the neighbours have had to try and get it back up without the parents attacking them. They are certainly creatures of habit to keep returning to the same nesting site.
