    Silly gulls!

Gem’s goose on the roof story reminded me about some gulls on our roof.

For some years now seagulls have made a nest hehind our neighbours’ chimney stack. Our neighbours finally got so fed up with it they had the stack removed and now have a clear roof. However we have a vent on our roof and guess what, the silly seagulls are nesting behind it. It can only be about 12 inches in diameter and the straw from the nest(gathered from another neighbours’ chicken run) is sticking out both sides. When we had the gale at the weekend all the straw landed on my back garden.Undeterred the birds have built again. I don’t mind really but the only problem that can arise is if a flightless chick falls off the roof. This has happened a couple of times in the past and the neighbours have had to try and get it back up without the parents attacking them. They are certainly creatures of habit to keep returning to the same nesting site.

Clover we have 2 ringneck doves that call in every day for feeding you can almost tell the time by them appearing at the feeding tray, when they have finished the seagulls fly down from the roof at the rear of our garden for their turn they seem to wait until the Doves have finished we obviously have loads of seagulls with us being right on The Mersey. We have a smaller feeding tray next to the bushes which separate us from next door in the bushes we have the babies all nesting and they flit in and out to feed from the small tray.We also have friendly squirrels who callin for peanuts so all in all you can get a pretty good feed at the bottom of our garden. Please be careful if you have to replace any baby chicks its a long way down to earth if you slip xxx

We have a pair of pigeons who nest on the support to our Sky dish. How they manage it I'll never know. However, in the last gale the nest blew off the support but luckily there were no eggs or chicks in it. The nest was lined with brambles, so I guess they had prickly bottoms!

LOL, what a strange choice of nesting material WG!
We have pigeons nesting too, but far more conventionally in the tree in our front garden.

We have a swallow's nest up in the outside eaves. They come back every year to have chicks then fly the nest to return next yr. Look forward to their return which should be any time soon.😊

Clover - silly gulls - you'd think they'd find somewhere a bit more sheltered!

We've had a blackbird's nest nearby - Dad has been busy taking food back to the nest, but I saw Mum yesterday, so I think the chicks have gone. Dad can get quite cheeky - if I haven't put food on the table for them he follows me round the garden! The pigeons seem to wait for him to eat first.

                It's what's called 'pecking order' Daisy.🤣

On our recent holiday in Cornwall I came out of the supermarket & the seagulls must play 'spot the tourist'. One pelted me with poo. All down my leg as I was walking. So much poo that it splashed onto the other trouser leg! Thank goodness it wasn't my head.😂

I thought I was going to have a blue tit family in my nesting box but alas they rejected it, not to her liking I expect. We have several nasty magpies in our garden this year, must be nesting in the woods.

Funny you should say that Plant. We have a magpie that's a downright thug.
