Tomorrow will be my little grandson’s 8th birthday. A day for celebration you’d expect. However my son who is waiting for a lung transplant is currently in hospital in London with a nasty infection. It is imperative that the infection it treated quickly as my son would be unable to receive new lungs should they become available. My DIL and GS are staying in a hotel this weekend so they are nearby to visit DS. On Friday they contacted GS’s school to request an authorised day off for tomorrow so DS can see his little boy on his birthday. The school were very understanding (they know the situation) and authorised the day off very willingly. Although the situation and circumstances are far from ideal, a lovely birthday can be planned for them all to enjoy. Happy birthday little one. Save me some cake!Always face the sunshine and the shadows fall behind you.

Sunshine - it's not the best way for your little GS to celebrate his 8th birthday, but cake tastes good anywhere. It will mean a lot to DS to share his birthday with him - thank goodness the school have been understanding.
I'm so sorry to hear M is in hospital, although I'm sure he's in good and safe hands. Send him my love and instructions to get rid of that infection as quickly as possible. xxx
