Jacket potatoes in the slow cooker.

I suppose everyone has their own way of doing these in the slow cooker, but this is my method.

Scrub the potatoes and prick with a fork.Wrap them in foil and put in slow cooker.
How long they take, will depend on size. I put mine in at 7am this morning on high. I always test to see if they are cooked with a skewer.
Took mine out at 1pm, although they were done before then. and put them in a hot oven (open the foil)on a baking tray for 10 minutes to crisp up.
Sometimes the potato seems to absorb a bit of colour from the skin, but his doen't affect the taste.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I used to do mine in the microwave, and read on the internet about doing them in the slow cooker.
It's handy if you are going out or going to be busy.
i posted it on here, cos Oma asked me about them.

I don't mind mine done in the microwave, but the skins are softer. We tried them in the log burner and they tasted so much better than the oven, even. We've not got a slow cooker but I wouldn't have thought to do them in one. I'll mention it to my Girls, thanks for the tip.

Thanks Nanto - they sound really yummy. I usually end up putting them in the microwave, but this sounds much better.

Gave my Slow Cooker to DS as it was too big for me now, I might buy a smaller one. I do like my jacket potatoes skins crisp but am reluctant to use oven for one potato

A very very lazy tip Aldi do a pack of two good sized baked pots filled with cheese for £1.40 and they take 7mins in the microwave, ideal for a quick supper.

After searching on google,it's surprising what can be made in the slow cooker.
Cakes, bread, rice pudding and fudge to name a few.

I haven't tried it Glamma, but i have seen the results on facebook.
There are some groups on there for slow cooking, although i know you don't use facebook.
