Qwerty - yes, there is a bit left, and it's still moist, but I'll make you a whole new one to yourself when you come down this way.
Shem - I think it's the nicest carrot cake I've ever had - sometimes they seem too 'fatty' and rich, but this is lovely.

I made banana cake last week as I had bananas that needed using up.
This week-end I'm going to try Gem's Plum Cake - I've got plums to use up, but no ordinary wholemeal flour, only strong for bread making, so I'm going to use plain white flour and see how it goes.

Shem - two weeks into 'home-made only' I'm still enthusiastic, and I haven't bought any cake, not even a hot cross bun! I don't know how long I'll keep it upfor, but so far so good, and we're finding we are happy with just a tiny piece because it's more satisfying somehow!
Let us know what you bake.
by the way - I love damsons - and you can use them for really delicious damson gin (even I like it and I'm not a gin lover).

Today's bake off!! I made Gem's Easy Cook Plum Cake recipe. It was easy to make, although I did take a few liberties with the recipe - while plain flour instead of wholemeal and unsalted butter instead of salted because I didn't have either of those in. Also the recpie suggested a 126cm tin, which I didn't have, but the 123cm was fine.

Qwerty - I've sent it first class - I stuck the stamp on over the plum so it doesn't fall out.
